I watched some youtube gameplays and it doesnt looks like SW Racer sequel...
As an veteran of good old Star Wars racer and a big fan of it... This game looks totally different.

In SW racer we had mostly podracers - in this one there are various of vehicles on the track and most of them doesn't even fit the podracers style. Also the gameplay seems to be different. The maps are kinda like very simple and linear, with no sharp turns - basically, you just fly straight ahead along the entire route. That doesnt look cool... That does look boring... Also I can feel the AI slop.

Excluding the good old "engine overheat" system... It looks like it doesn't share anything with Star Wars Racer Episode 1. I was thinking about buying this game, but the price is very high and the vehicle handling looks very stiff (from what I have seen on the videos - it was like controlling a brick on a straight line road).

So my question is... How is the multiplayer for now? How is the controls? Are all the maps this simple with no turns, where you just drive straight ahead and watch the "burn meter"?

From what I saw it doesn't share anything with the original Star Wars Racer (both movie scene and the original game) except the engine overheat concept. Even the podracers (and those other strange vehicles which doesn't even seems to fit the podracer theme) seems to move much more slower compared to the original game...

That is so wrong it isn't even funny.
It actually controls beautifully. And the controls quite similar to the orig game, trust me i played through it a few days ago in prep for this game.

You also have to remember that you have to unlock a lot of stuff as you play. I'm sure they will also add alot of pod racing stuff over time, assuming sales warrant it.
- its Star Wars Galactic Racer, not Star Wars Episode 1 Racer 2
- it has pod racers (not enough but it's there)
- tracks are pretty detailed and twisty, watch videos of pod races and tell me tracks are too simple, considering the speed (no they're not slow at all, try Star Wars Racer Arcade, so simple and slow in comparison).

Whats so funny? In the Star Wars racer game from 90s it was all about dodging everything with supersonic speed and extreme bends.

There I can see no extreme bends. Just moving forward at medium speed and dodging obstacles.

Does the game at least have a lap system, or do you drive from point A to point B?

Yeah, the graphics and details are okay. But the tracks seems to be simple > drive forward + dodge left and right.

Please reply to the thread guys. My question was:

The game has incredibly tight sections, and it has laps. You need to use the special turn ability of each type of vehicle to navigate them (drifting for speeders).

The game is hard when played on the highest difficulty.
