Earning lots of gold in one round
So there's an unlock that requires earning a lot of gold in one round (inbetween point milestones) but I haven't managed to come anywhere close, its a rare opportunity for this particular unlock and i'm usually not prioritizing money generation when it pops up. Anyone have any tips??

Comes down to what guilds you use.

Industrial is the best money makers, Maritime and Commercial are close behind. The Ingot is also a good heirloom if you are looking for just pure money.

Industrial uses a simple method of creating nature/resources and consuming them; there is a building in Industrial that triggers every time a nature/resource is removed, giving you +1 gold. Even without that building you can get the ' Shears ' heirloom and it will start making a good amount of money.

There is some cheeky ways to do it as well using Heirloom sell price and the potions, you basically just hold the potions until you get the quest and then consume them to instantly complete it.

My recommendation if you are a new player is just play for awhile, then when you unlock more and understand more you can get the unlocks a lot easier.
Ooooh yeah heirloom selling is a good idea!! Thank you!!
By the way, you can wait until Endless Mode to do this. I was never able to get a money engine going hard enough before Metropolis, but just now, in Metropolis V, I finally had enough Industrial workshops paying out that I earned like 100 coins in two weeks and paid off the Spymaster. So just slap on the easiest difficulty and you get like a couple more chances in the "post game"
