KartKraft
KartKraft Failed to Authenticate
Is this problem fixed yet for other people? I haven't played KartKraft since September and now when I start the game it says the authentication failed and I cannot play. I have re installed the game. Steam doesn't want to give me a refund because I have 3.5 hours. I can't play a broken game and I can't get a refund.

Yes, the connection to the backend platform was fully restored on the 5th of Feb (thanks to good people of Studio 397) and the game is playable again (TT, Practice and races against the AI are available, Online mode is down and unlikely to come back).

To get more details on the error, you can check project_k.log file in %localappdata%/project_k/Saved/Logs or maybe try to reinstall the game completely using the tips below:

Uninstall the game in Steam, then check and, if still present, manually delete the folders:
• %localappdata%/Unreal Engine
• %localappdata%/project_k
• ../SteamApps/common/KartKraft
Restart your PC, go to Steam and install the game again.

Have you checked the log file? What does project_k.log say?

And what Windows version do you use? Versions prior to 22H2 are known to have connectivity issues due to outdated certificates.

It's 10
I'm not sure which one though
I am having the same problem too. I followed the steps but I have the same "Failed to authenticate" when launching the game.
Also I am on Windows 22H2.

OK, try to install Starfield Services Root Certificate Authority - G2 (SFSRootCAG2.cer). You can download it from https://www.amazontrust.com/repository/ , RootCAs table, last row of the table (CN=Starfield Services Root Certificate Authority - G2) , click DER to get the certificate.

The thing is "Failed to authenticate" error can be caused by a number of things. What does your project_k.log say? It it states libcurl error: 60 (Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates), please try a solution above (install a compatible root certificate).

You're most welcome!

Don't forget to apply this Steam launch option: -EnableGRPC=false
It's a workaround for fps drop/stuttering.
