Full VR?
I bought this because when my father visits I want him to try something new in VR but when we found out it's half keyboard/gamepad half VR we were both turned off from wanting to play this.

Is there a plan to go full VR or should I just consider a refund? Not trying to hate the game here I just know how I wanna play it

It work with VR:

And despite the fact you can use keyboard and controller (as much as any other simulator . . controller and keyboard will only make it harder and almost-impossible, respectivelly), it is better with FFB wheel (and FFB is amazing).

If you want other than just kart experience, I suggest rFactor 2, Automobilista 2 and Assetto Corsa Competizione, still the feeling through FFB and the physics for karts, KartKraft still the king (but KartKraft dont have multiplayer, the only real downside of KartKraft because the karts and tracks it have are amazing).

I really dont know where I read you had a wheel, sorry (I am sleepy here).

This is a FFB wheel:

And I doubt KartKraft is playable with VR controllers, no idea how it would work for that or even if it is possible, but a Force Feedback wheel, for a simulator such as KartKraft and the other simulators I mentioned, is much more immersive than just VR, the feeling of the kart in your hands (kart reactions, track details and engine torque) is something outstanding at KartKraft and totally worth it, if you ever consider it.

Well, for the better if it is not what you wanted/expected, but keep in mind, when you see VR support at a racing game or simulator, it is VR headset support for VR point of view, the driving, as far as I know, will be by wheel, controller or keyboard ... I still not sure how a racing game or a simulator could work with VR controllers, maybe someone could make it work using Steam Bigpicture, but I dont see much "precision driving" with a VR controller.

I tried to find any video of someone using VR controller for any racing game or simulator ...
https://youtu.be/TFxcDCiM_vw
Probably he made it work through Steam Bigpicture ... but the driving was somewhat hard for him with these VR controllers.

Watching the video again with more attention ... he dont seem to be moving his arms, I can not be sure he used the VR controllers or a keyboard there.

Using motion controllers is not considered "full VR" in ANY VR racing game but just a clutch or gimmick if anything. If you go through ANY list of best VR racing games you will find mostly titles that don't support motion controls at all and even some that can't be played w/o a wheel at all (like iRacing).

I know guys that play iracing with gamepad and are fast, some even with keyboard.
When you are good at it, the equipment you use may make it harder but not impossible.

Dont know how they set up to be manageable but still ... doable.
