Why do I spin?
Hello guys. I tried this game but I have a problem: when I drive fast along a long straight and want to brake before the upcoming corner I spin most of the time. Is this normal? I have to admit that I hold my wheel and don't steer while braking, so the kart should stay stable and not spin out, right? Can you help me? What am I doing wrong? Or do I have wrong settings?
I have a G27 and I have set it to 900 degrees in game (the same as it is in Logitech driver). I don't want to change my degrees in the Logitech driver because they work well in all other games (Assetto Corsa, ACC, Project Cars 2 ....).

try setting your brakes at 60% worked for me.
(In game settings)

Try to reduce the brake strength under the Inputs section. I set mine to 80%.

Hi, there are many settings (max strength, linearity and so on). Which one should I set to 60% or 80%?

youre locking the rear breaks (breaking too hard) causes the kart to spin

like everyone said reduce the brake strength or try to "catch the slide" to prevent the kart from spinning when you lock up the brakes.

Thank you, I will try, but my question is still: is this normal/realistic? If the answer is yes, then perhaps it‘s better to not reduce the brake strength and make it easier (=unrealistic?!) and I should better learn to catch it or don‘t brake that hard.
But if it‘s not realistic now, they should fix it and (as a workaround) I could reduce strength in the settings until they fix it.
What do you think? Any guys with Kart-experience in real life who can give an answer?

There could be many parameters(depending on the depth of simulation) that could cause the Kart to be unstable under heavy braking like small variations in the track, tyre wear on the outer tyres, even wind.

Btw, I quickly learned to reduce the Max braking to 60%+ to help with stability on the first corner of the first circuit. When I put in many hours practising delicate brake/throttle control I'll put it back near 100%.

Indeed, it's better to learn to be smoother on your brakes to avoid locking them. I personally have shorten both pedals travel by setting the max value to 70% or 75% (saturation settings in game) because IRL karts have shorter pedals travel (as adviced by a real life kart driver) ; it indeed helps to be more reactive on the brake and the throttle (easier to catch the kart by having faster throttle input). I'm not a fast driver though :steammocking:

A new major update is coming (that will fix the kart behaviour according to the developpers), I would suggest to wait for it before making any adjustment in your settings.

Thank you guys. Can’t wait for the update!

It is quite realistic for the kart to spin under heavy braking from high speed, the reason is these kind of race karts have a solid rear axle so throttle and brake balance while driving is essensial to fast laps times.HTH

There are no brakes on the front on these karts (and they are rear wheel drive), that's why they have this tendency to spin while heavy breaking.

Okay thanks. So if it’s realistic I won‘t change settings and just try to brake earlier and smoother...

Hi Mike1304 - The braking is still not as stable as we'd like, so there's no problem in reducing the maximum brake strength to 60% and start increasing it from there until you feel comfortable.

How great you're reading the steam's forums. That's a lot of work and you're doing it. You're going to have everything right with this sim, for sure. I'm your first critic but your first fan (although I'm just using my logic physic knowledge, real drivers are more important) ; it's because you put the bar really high. Keep doing your job, I'm sure you're going to make a new step in the racing sim genre.
