I have a question regarding your mod. DulceDeClown stated in his original post that this HD mod could not function together with the Netherworld Content Pack. I was wondering if you were able to get that pack to work with your HD sprites. I tried out your mod and the sprites looked great. So I went ahead and followed your steps to remove your ANM00.DAT "which I can only hope included all of the work you did" and place it into the SUBDATA.DAT from the NetherWorld Content Pack. I ran into an issue with the file being 220 MB which (if what DulceDeClown claimed was the case) caused the game to crash at launch. I'm not sure if I had to simply cut down 40 MB to make the SUBDATA.DAT usable...but I'm not sure what the best way to do that would be. Do you have any thoughts?
I wonder if this project is still active, because I think all we miss now are some characters like plenair, and weapons in general (I wouldn't mind every weapon with the same sprite, though).
Kinda felt bad when I saw the disgaea complete for android, that game offers basically everything we wanted here. Maybe I'll buy that and play with an emulator on pc, but another $30...ugh
I think I used the exe that was included with the Netherworld Expansion Pack since I assumed it was the same as the one Dulce provided. I'll try using Dulce's exe and see if anything improves. To clarify, you got the ANM00.DAT from Dexter's mod and patched that into the Netherworld Expansion Pack SUBDATA.DAT? I want to make sure I followed the same steps.
I actually tried playing disgaea complete on an android emulator originally, but I was unsuccessful. I got an apk off of the internet, so I could test to see if I could get the game to run, before buying it. I tried running the game on memu, bluestacks, and nox but each emulator would give the message that game is not compatible with my current android version. I tried android 7.1, 5.1, and 4.1 but none of them could run the game. I made the emulator emulate the same device as my phone, since my phone could run the game without an issue, but, that did not work either
I gave up on that and that's why I came around to modding disgaea PC. If you plan to pick that up and try it then let me know if you are successful!
Edit: I tried it with the exe that Dulce provided and the game ran. Thank you for that advice.
I'm assuming you'll keep this step by step in mind:
Alright, If I'm not mistaken (I was tired when I decided to try this lol)...what I did was:
1. Download the Netherworld Content Pack;
2. Download Dulce's ANM00.DAT;
3. Download Dexter's 0001_LAHARL.SH (from the favorite answer)
4. Use the Disa File Manager to open Dulce's ANM00.DAT and replace (right click on item > replace, and yes I only noticed this later lol) 0001_LAHARL.SH (laharl-chan) with Dexter's 0001_LAHARL.SH (male laharl)
5. Save the file
6. Open the Netherworld Content Pack's SUBDATA.DAT and replace the ANM00.DAT with the one we just saved (that contains Dulce and Dexter's sprites).
7. Save the altered SUBDATA.DAT
8. Download Dulce's dis1_st.exe
9. Replace original files with the ones from step 7 and 8 on Disgaea PC's root folder.
I guess....that's it. And by the way, If i ever decide to buy the Complete Edition for android, I'll update this answer to tell you if it runs fine or like crap.
Hopefully this topic isn't too dead. Great stuff going on here - and makes playing Disgaea again really fresh! But there are so many versions flying around that it's a bit hard to keep track of what's HD and not HD between them.
I'm aiming to build a definitive SUBDATA.DAT file with HD sprites that also works with the Netherworld Content Pack.
So far, I've managed to get a working version of the Netherworld Content Pack using Dexter's version of HD sprites. It requires Dulce's custom Disgaea PC.exe file linked in the master post to prevent crashes.
However, my version using Dexter's as a base lacks Plenair and a few other sprites (including Trainee Angel Flonne as that version is no longer accessible in their posts) as well as the HD cut-ins. It's actually pretty funny, as certain sprites (that aren't battle-related I assume) revert to SD during cutscenes.
I know there was talk by Dulce of working to include Plenair and of amending the cut-ins but it's unclear to me what sprites are included in Dulce's master posts SUBDATA.DAT and whether I should go with that and then just insert one of the Male Laharl files manually (as it's my preference). I would assume everything would be included but the updates appear to be before some of this discussion.
I'm trying to get a hold of some of Disgaea Completes .sh files to manually insert what might be missing but so far have come up with .pngs only. I don't know enough about how the files work to convert the pngs correctly.
But in any case, even if we don't get a full catalogue - great work to everyone contributing!

I think this is Trainee Flonne: https://anonfiles.com/zaY8M1H8ua/0003_FLONNE_sh
Thanks for everything! Just to be clear you can use this Subdata with the Netherworld Content Pack? And Inject Trainee Flonne if you want it. Using the dis1_st.exe from the original OP? Is that correct?
