Description of Issue: Black Boxes on texts and sprites

System Information
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
RAM: 32Gb 3600 Mhz
Audio: Cooler Master MH752

I notice a lot of people has been having issues with sprites and texts showing up as black boxes.

The problem first came up on my new PC. Previously I use RX 580 and it works perfectly fine (around 2020). I just played the game again and all i see is black boxes. Tried on my nephew PC (3400G, RX 560) and it works perfectly fine too. I thought it might be RX 6000 series problem since it doesn't work with my work PC too (RX 6600). But it's definitely not an AMD GPU problem.

I try reinstalling my drivers but not luck. Until I try installing different drivers.

Currently as of 18 September 2022, there are 3 driver version for my 6700 XT GPU with Windows 10 - 64-Bit Edition version.
1. AMD Software Adrenaline Ed. ver 22.8.2 (Newest)
2. AMD Software Adrenaline Ed. ver 22.5.1(Recommended (WHQL)
3. AMD Software PRO Edition ver 22.Q2

I try to learn a bit about the three. Please do correct me if i'm wrong, despite not specialized for gaming, the PRO edition should be the most stable driver since it was used for corporate purpose, so it needs to be more stable rather than better at playing triple A games. I try reinstalling my driver and the game works perfectly fine! I can finally play my fav disgaea game again

Glad to be some help! but downgrading the driver might result in lower performance in other games. Like you need the latest driver for playing the newest version of minecraft if i'm not mistaken

I'm having this issue rn with Disgaea2 PC. All texts shows up as a black box. Some of them covering all screen. I have a RX580 GPU and a Ryzen 7 5800x. I think this is frustrating to have to downgrade my GPU driver. I'll wait till they fix it.

I have R7-5800X+RX 5700. Even my R7-4700U laptop is no working.
When something that is already working stops working, it is called a defect.
Unfortunately, they continue to neglect it.

Try using a Vulkan wrapper for opengl32:
https://github.com/pal1000/mesa-dist-win/releases

Dump the contents of mesa3d-24.1.1-release-msvc.7z \x86\ folder into your Disgaea directory. This will allow you to bypass the bugged AMD opengl32 drivers introduced in AMD Adrenaline 22.7.1.

Just to update everyone, latest amd drivers fix the issue already, without needing to downgrade or anything!
