Mine works just fine. Didn't have to change options or anything. Now it doesn't show proper button labels in the remap menu though. Shows Numbers 1-8 instead of Y, X, B, etc.

Yeah, mine worked fine, without setting anything up, but the on-screen prompts aren't helpful. You can tell it's the first port they've done, themselves. Though, mine is wired, so I can't vouch for how well it works with a wireless controller.
Do you have an issue wherfe the character keeps on trying to move to the walls? M+KB works for me.

My wireless controller works fine.

Seems to be one thing that's worked perfectly for me (wired 360 controller), no config was needed - as HackOfAllTrades said, they just didn't think of changing the on-screen prompts apparently.

Same problem here, have 360 wired controller and in game it isn't working. Can't change any key settings and etc.

Mine 'works' on Win7 but there are two problems:

1. The left analog stick is not used as an analog input by the game. This makes it unideal for moving the cursor around on the battlefield since it is instead mapped to the dpad controls and is not like the analog control given by the mouse or the analog controls on previous versions of this game.
2. I can't use both the analog stick and the dpad, since the analog stick is mapped to the dpad controls.

I've resorted to KB/M for most input now, which has its own set of problems.

For those who are having issues with detection of game controllers, please try this:

  1. Open your computer's Start screen and type "joy.cpl." Select "joy.cpl" from the list of results. (This should bring up "Game Controllers" set up window)
  2. Check to see if your device is listed on the Game Controllers list.
  3. Click the "Advanced..." button and select your preferred controller from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click OK on both windows.
  5. Restart Disgaea PC and check to see if the controllers are being detected by the game.

Let us know if you're still experiencing issues! Please don't forget to mention which game controller model you're using.

Bwhahahahhahahahaha
Oh man, I am crying. I forgot the first step of troubleshooting and /I/ am a help desk monkey.
Thanks man, I'm going to go feel stupid for about ten minutes and then play Disgaea.

But seriously, F those Virtual HID devices in my joystick config. Probably my damn n52 again. Though oddly enough, I thought of that and unplugged it, and it still didn't work. Other games must be ignoring that or finding the right controller.

I have had a lot more controller issues with some games though in Win10 than 7 or 8. Don't even get me started on the BS I had to do to get X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter working on here.

When my controller on PC got disconnected and reconnected, it suddenly not working, and I need to restart my game to work it again. Any fix about this? It's kind of hassle on my part especially when having an ongoing boss battle
