Class Unlock Requirements
Hey everyone, I'm slowly learning my way through the game and I had a question about the requirements for unlocking classes.

For the ones that require you to level up more than one class, do you have to have each of them in your party at the same time? Or can you level up one class, transmigrate to another class, and do it that way? Like for Star Mage, can I just transmigrate between red, blue, and green after I hit level 5 to unlock it or will I need 3 separate mages?

I believe they always have to all exist at the same time (but once the class is unlocked you don't need to keep them around). At least it works this way for star mages.

Yup, that's it. That's the way for all of them.

Yep, at least on other versions. No idea why I have the samurai unlocked when I don't even have a female warrior.

When I was unlocking classes on the PSP, I found some of the requirements to be inverted compared to what guides were telling me. I'm guessing the same thing happened to the PC version. It'd be easy to miss, as often players unlock all the classes at about the same time anyways...

Yeah, some information isn't quite accurate to this version, the psp, or the DS releases. I've noticed their information for unlocking the thief was off, and getting upgraded versions of his class required more levels than most wikia information seemed to imply.

Truth be told, wikia being wikia, I'd be surprised if their class unlock info even matches the PS2 release. The folks in charge care more about SEO than quality content, and even though those aren't the same folks who actually write the content for the site, it shows.

Though to be fair, regional differences could've muddied the waters. Either way, there's more to the situation than what they've got documented.

Has all the info you should need.

AS others have said some of the classes require you to have all the prerequisits at the same time and other just that you've had them. Usually better to shoot to have them at the same time.

Mhblis, still says I need a female warrior to unlock samurai class lol. Maybe it glitched *shrugs*

Would like to point out that those psp facts are mostly PS2 guides. I know for a fact at least one thing changed with a later release, the disgaea DS release (that the hyperdrive can only be earned by doing 100 floors at once on a rank 40 or higher item and killing the item god 2).

So it's more than likely that there were other balance changes regarding unlocking classes.

You very certainly need to have all prerequisite classes at the same time in order to unlock new ones. Not so much for new tiers of classes, but those are unlocked by levelling lower tiers of the same class.
