Best monster ally and why?
Hola, so, having played Disgaea (original on PS2) and D2, I've tried and loved a large number of monster classes as allys over the times I've run riot over stages. However, I'm now curious as to which monster class is considered the "best one", and why?

Currently my "best" is my T3 Undead (named Mordecai), though I'm still in the very early levels of the game as I'm looking to re-enjoy the story for going into uber grinding for insane levels and items. Because of this, Morde serves as my high HP tank and is very useful as such.

So, with that said, what major benefits do other monsters have, and which would be seen as "the best"? :steamhappy:

For me, "The Best" Monster is a lv9999 Surt from the Patriarch Seal.
Excellent stats , tons of HP , good AoE skills and no need to be leveled so he can get extreme gain from stolen PrinnySuit & NemesisMk2.
But it's LATE post game.

In the early game... i'd stay away from monster since they don't offer anything that generic troops cannot do better, but if I had to choose one, i'd probably pick a Winged monster to spam poison

Cat girl since her high move speed and counter rate makes her realy nice for farming early game item worlds.

dragons, great wyrms, serpents, and galactic demons are the only worthwhile monsters that's not thursday and every other monster ranges from functional to complete garbage
be aware that one tier of great wyrm is nonelemental which makes it the best tier, despite not being the last

none of said monsters have int based attacks and can hit many targets (great wyrm has a 3x3 as their first skill) and the galactic demon is the only monster with aptitudes above 100% (150% res and def, and the stat itself is pretty iimpressive)

Was it this game where you can easily work up to a "free" lv9999 Nekomata through combining and capture?
Escarodeta Mar 3, 2016 @ 3:51pm
Nekomata <- Because they can be easily captured later on in the game. 3 tiles AOE is fine.

Surt. Because huge HP. Level 9999. and the reason you can get perfect achievements. Amazing AOE.

However, if you want BIG ASS defense, go for the monsters at CoO3

That's Disgaea 2 where you can do that, quite early in the game too.

As for me, I find for combat in general I prefer using humanoids (that weapon skill bonus makes all the difference) but I try to have a Winged loaded with boots for rushing through Item World levels and I tend to keep an Argus handy to be a rediculous tank.

Speaking of, are we assuming Steam will be making a bash at releasing D2 in the future at some point?

Cause honestly I'd love to see other Disgaeas on here (also a huge D2 fan for PS2)

Thursday has huge stats for a monster, though monsters in D1 are ♥♥♥♥. Not sure what to aim for in D2 than maybe Taro. Counters everything and natural PBAoE. Gets more armor on low health to better survive countering bosses like Baal.

Just FYI to avoid confusion, the 5th game in the series (after 4 and before 5) is called "Disgaea D2" and it's on the PS3. I'm 99% certain that you meant Disgaea 2. D2 continues the Laharl/Etna/Flonne story.
