Etna's voice?

Is it me or does her voice not sound right, I could of sworn it didn't sound so bubbly and cheery.

All the Etna voicework for every game she's in except for the original PS2 version is done by this VA.

Ah... I liked the PS2 voice acter a lot more.. never played the PsP one.

It annoys me as well. Amanda Winn-Lee did her voice in the original release of Disgaea 1 on PS2. She hasn't returned since. Every game since then has cast Michelle Ruff as her voice actress.

Though oddly enough, when the Silent Hill HD Collection came out on console, and SH3 had new voice actors, Amanda Winn-Lee did Heather's voice. And now Heather sounds like Etna.

Also shouldn't I see in the convo with main chars there be large character sprites with emotions as opposed to a little avatar box? Or am I missing something?

In some dialogues yes. Not every single one. Some only have the small box portrait.

I'm pretty disappointed by this. The original Etna's voice was perfect for the role. What's Etna without her brand of sinister sarcasm? Now she just sounds so... off to me.

I don't know how you can be disappointed by something that's been around for over 10 years. I mean even if you haven't played the PSP version, she's the VA for all future titles. So then the only excuse would be not playing other Disgaea games.

I don't own a PSP, so no, I haven't played that version. I also haven't played any of the sequels, because back then I didn't have a lot of extra income. But really, if you're saying that I shouldn't be disappointed because they changed the voice with the second game, then that's kind of moot because I would have been disappointed by it being different back then, too. A downgrade in quality isn't negated by becoming the new standard.

They also changed some of the prinny voices, I noticed. When you get to the first castle, they don't have the usual high pitched voice when calling you things like "a demon among demons" and stuff.
