How is the Voice Acting?
For the people that have played, do you think the english VO is any good? If it's not then is there an option to turn the voices off?

I like the English VO, some people have an issue with Etna sounding different to the original ps2 version. Its kind of typical anime VO with none of those characters who have a voice that makes you want to cut your ears off.

Pretty good actually from what I remember, one of the few games I play mostly in english (when Original language is available).

at least in later games you can control dialog volume separate, not certain about this one.

But it will have English and JP dialog options. One of the two should hopefully work for most people.

i'm hoping the voice over options of english or japanese will be there. I've tried listening to the english and cringed, so i'll be playing it in Japanese :steamhappy:

The English actors are great. Laharl is voiced by the lady who did the English dub of Rita Repulsa on Power Rangers.

Only played the PS2 version - seriously miss Etna's original VA - but the biggest issue I had was not the voicework itself but the sound quality. Dunno if the original recording was bad or they encoded it poorly for on the disc, but I found it particularly noticable with some of Flonne's stuff.

And you're wrong, it's 100% intentional that Goku has a high pitched voice, it is part of him not being a very serious character and to make the contrast between him an Vegeta even stronger.

I've always found the original Disgaea's voice acting to be a mixed bucket. Laharl's voice has always eben weird to me. Flonne's is incredibly anime-squeaky, but that's standard, and Etna is...well, Etna. She's one of the best voices in the series.

I hate the Skulls' voices in this game though. I much prefer how they were after they were given the hoodless redesign.

The Disgaea series seems to attract the cream of the crop in Voice Acting, the only negative I've heard is some voice actors got replaced and there's debate over who voiced who better. However you get that with all character with more than one Voice Actor (FUNimation Vs. Ocean DBZ voices for example)

Etna's new voice is miles better than her old voice, I dunno what everyone's deal is.

Anyway, Disgaea has really good voice acting by Localized Anime Game standards, especially compared to other games at the time (this was, after all, the dark and mysterious time of 2003 anime game localization). Barbara Goodson as Laharl seems to stick out the most for people, but I think the voice fits Laharl pretty well, myself.

Yeah but he sounds female.. honestly if it weren't for the shirtless scenes where he clearly doesn't have boobs, watching the subs I thought he WAS female.
