but if new disgaea anime comes(and i hope sou) i will 100% watch it and hope it is better.
That said, Disgaea has a lot of potential for a GOOD anime these days. One only needs to look at the Disgae 4, D2, and 5 openings to see that (especially D2)
In the game, most events consist of a couple of short cutscenes, interspaced with some battles. It therefore made a lot of sense to me to see the anime flesh things out with new content that didn't come from the game. For example, Sardia (the demonslayer who can't make up her mind) gets an episode instead of a two-minute appearance. Even the Pringer-X shows up.
All the major events are covered, though it's not until the end that the series departs from filler episodes and seriously starts addressing the original plot (personally I'd come to think it wasn't going to happen, but yeah, it does). The characters are generally on-model, and even though there are some outright changes from the original script, you can tell the writers knew their source content.
As an actual anime, the result is fairly average... as in, there are certainly worse ones out there, but you could do a lot better. Anyone who isn't a fan of the original game may as well not bother with it, but I really think the only way to form your own opinion on it is to watch it for yourself. Overall I personally found that I enjoyed it.
Of course the story was shuffled around, that probably isn't a bad thing for a few reasons. The art was really meh, very much on the derpy side. But if you are looking for another way to consume Disgaea it's not terrible.
Overall it had the right feel. The characters are what I would have expected, and they mostly used the great score from the first game.
While I may not have found the art to be very good, they at least didn't exaggerate the girls glutes or anything, unlike some anime.
If you're a fan of the game, go ahead and give it a try, but I wouldn't suggest someone try to use it as a recruiting tool or anything.
There was also a manga. It was OK, similar problems as with the TV series and was only one volume I think.
Disgaea 2 also had a manga several volumes long. I haven't read it, but I want to. I've heard some good things.
Personally I got a few laughs out of the anime, so I'd say it was OK. Not the best ever, but watchable.
It was not particularly faithful and had filler despite being as short as it was.
