Are you going to use cheatengine?
I've played this game for hundreds and hundreds of hours. I've gone through this story mode dozens of times, I have no real interest in actually going through the progression all over again. I'm much more intereted in messing with the numbers are much as I can.
Anyone else feel the same way?

different perspectives different view points, doing the same thing over and over again with essentially the same results isnt enjoyable for everyone.
Youre locked into one view, we see and do things from multiple views.

You can disagree with it all you want, but fact is theres no harm in cheating in a single player game. Whether you understand it or not, cheating like this is a form of modding and we have fun doing it and actually get more replayability from doing it which increases the games value for us.

The only things I'd be interested in would be adding non-playable characters to my party. The stats and stuff are easy enough to raise that I don't really care about that.

I've beaten each Disgaea game except for 5 (due to a faulty PS4), but I don't know. I might, might not.
I mean, starting in Disgaea D2 (and then subsequent games 4 Revisited and 5), the Cheat Shop mutes any reason to cheat.
Though depending on how much is changed in this port, I might be tempted. It really does depend on various factors.

Then again, there may not really be a point to using cheat engine in this particular game. By the post-game, you'll have more than enough HL.

You're the one trying to tell people what is and isn't enjoyable to them.

Personally, when it comes to things like single player where it can't affect other people, my feelings for it isn't as bad since you're only doing it to yourself (though if you gained achievements by doing so you shouldn't feel so big about it) but hate it when people do it on multiplayer games. :sb:

Just have mixed feelings for that on steam since even though it's a single player game it has global stats for achievements so that always bothers me but that's just me really. Though when it comes to a game you already spent so much time on already, I can see the reason to skip all past the tedious re-doing of all your work :alte: but if it helps you gain achievements for literally using a 3rd party just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But again, that's just me. Everyone's different when it comes to this. :hime: Make leaderboards and stuff pointless when people do that though.

if your replying to me there is a 'Quote' button you know?.... if it was towards me.. having an opinion is not the same as TELLING someone, obviously you like cj are reading intent onto a comment where there isnt/wasnt one. -.-

""ts more enjoyable when you accomplish something you did yourself.". That's a classic case of trying to speak for everyone rather than yourself,.

Im going to be that idiot who tries to figure out the geopanel code and force the clone effect to always be active on every map, on every tile

I won't. The whole point of Disgaea is the mindless grinding. Cheating just takes away all the fun.

I'm sure you've all got ways in which you think the game could be better for your personal taste, improvements or changes etc.. maybe you want to start all new story characters at level 1 and develop them from there instead of the level they usually join at, maybe you feel something is unbalanced and want to make a few tweaks, cheat engine doesn't have to be used for cheating in the traditional sense, you can use these tools to modify the game or learn more about it for legit playthroughs.

Only Disgaea games i've played were 3 and 4, however I had the other Disgaea, Disgaea 2 on my Ps3 as well. Got rid of my Ps3 2 years ago and havent played any disgaea since. I'll play this one all the way through first and then mess around I guess.

People who are against the use of game modification tools (be they cheat engine, gamesharl/PAR/cwcheaat etc, or even 'mods') never seem to understand this. They just spout out the line of 'it's not fun' or 'it ruins it' or 'it's not meant to be played that way' or WHATEVER without realizing not everyone is making level 99 invincible characters (and yes, I know level 99 here is nothing, but bear with me).
There is so much you can do with such tools, often making games HARDER (such as 'gain no EXP' for instance) or just play around with things you couldn't otherwise. I've had many an hour of fun playing as alternate characters (or even just alternate sprites) in FFT, as a single for instance.

I'll say this... some cheats were made to use. (blood code anyone? up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right, A, B, start if i remember right?)

Not going to cheat with this game at first as i never actually beat it when i had access to it so many years ago. So first i'll beat it without cheats. Try to do 100%. Then after i've done that, I know i'll come back to cheat for the lols down the road.

Disgea has always been all about cheating. They even added a cheat shop and "puppy paw stick" to dupe items and shortcut things.

That being said, I am not going to use cheat engine hardcore, but if there was a way to tweak residents on items I would go through with it. Grinding out statiticians is a ROYAL pain. So I would use it to do things like that to eliminate the level fest time.

Perfect equips aren't super important in D1. I've been through the game a few times and each time with less than perfect equips.
