Prism Mage/ Galaxy Mage worth it?
They do get the utility of multiple elements, but as far as I can tell they do not get TERA level spells. Is the lack of TERA power worth giving up to get all the elements on one character?

It can be remedied by making either a red/green/blue and star mage and teach your Prism/Galaxy Mage the last 4 Tera Spells.

Edit: Prism/Galaxy Mage are ok, but majins are way better once you get to late game.

So best plan is wait till I get maijin, have him make fire/ice/wind/star, level them to tera, have maijin learn tera?

Even the first versions of the spells seem to be decent enough if you have high enough stats unless you're going for high damage where Tera would be better, so you would be fine with Prism after having picked up the Star spells from Star Mage.

.
Mages are pretty much the power class early game. decent range and can occasionally snipe enemies from far enough away that they won't move, able to hit weaknesses. I was able to get to the final chapter somewhere around 12-13 hours by focusing experience onto a mage and mostly having the others make sure she stayed alive, while using the pupil system to teach her elements.

Currently working on unlocking Majin and farming Armsmasters(have 300 Statistician already) for when I want to switch over to Majin and then need to grind up Sword Mastery instead of Staff mastery. Physical ends up much better endgame unless you're intending to cheese stuff with magic's range.

I'm having a easier time with Galaxy mage and Prism mage due to them being able to throw out any elemental. The enemy resistant is always changing between maps.

You're all correct except on one point. Magical damage are far superior to physical damage in this game. As Elemental (and Star) spells have the highest damage multipliers.

As you can see in the video, The mages that casted Mega Star (equipped with Omniscient Rod) deals 23M+ damage compared to the units with lvl 100 yoshi that deals like 5M+ with Winged Slayer.

The damage could also be improved if the mages are divine majins with lvl 100 perfect-levelled ominiscient rod and casted a TERA star instead.

Edit: Plus 5x magic boost.

Yes, though you need to level your ALL your tera spells to atleast 8-10. So when you transmigrate to genius, it'll only decrease to level 7-8, not disappearing.

Edit: I'm not sure, levelling a magic-oriented character is much more complicated than a melee character. Just have your staff mastery max to 255.
Getting 255 mastery is much easier when you unlocked the last tier of majin and go to map 5-3, just keep attacking and countering and it'll get to 255 in no time.

I'm pretty sure maijin take a fairly long time to unlock (and also cost twice the xp to level) so in the mean time using a Galaxy Mage would be your best bet. Also it is very easy to transfer spells over by the time you can create a Prism or Galaxy Mage.

Also since you can transform pretty much any class into another class with enough Mana, all you really need is enough bodies to fill out your roster plus any support roles (theives for example have awful stats, but clearly are needed if you want to steal lots of stuff in a timely manner). By late game you can transfer your mages into whatever class give them the stats you like best.

Is it actually easier to do the 10 million damage achievement that has to be against one unit with magic? Everything I've seen had mentioned using one of the later sword or axe specials for it.

Yes, it's actually much easier to achieve the 10m damage with elemental and star spell. Like, WAY EASIER.

Edit: Unfortunately no one even tried to main magic and go for omniscient rod, only the old players of disgaea hod and aod and disgaea 2 knows magic is op. That's why people here say sword and axe are the best end-game damage dealers, not even knowing a simple Mega Star can outdamage Nightsever and Calamity Drive by like 10M damage apart.

yeah, I never went too far into the damage stuff outside of Disgaea 3(PS3), 4(PS3), and D2 for the trophies there(and even then I didn't stick with D2 long enough to platinum it)

I knew magic was best in 2 because of the Magic Knights bonuses there.

Now if only I could find a legendary rank 39 staff with any amount of slots so I could start working on getting the rank 40.

Axe does have one advantage of having its rank 40 available outside of Item World on one of the Demonhall Mirror stages.

You can get a Legendary Galactic Staff (R39) also in one of the stages in demonhall mirror, just keep resetting till you get it legendary. (purple colored staff)

I must not have been paying attention because I'm at Adell/Rozalin now. Or just didn't realize it was the rank 39 at the time and therefore didn't reset for Legendary. I never remember what items are what ranks each time I play through one of these.

It'll show up eventually though.

Yep, you definitely missed it xD

Either way there's a rank 37 staff at beauty castle (after you defeat marjoly), get it legendary and go to item god to steal legendary infernal staff, and go to the item god of it to get a legendary Galactic staff.

It's gonna take time though xD

Or just skip Beauty Castle and *buy* some Infernal Staves, and run them while hoping enemies have cosmic blades and galactic staves.

It took me 1hr+ to even see a common and rare cosmic blade on floor 11 of a Dream Hand. And not even seeing a single Durandal nor Galactic Staff...
