Anyways, you can hire a mage anytime in the game for a long ranged nuke. Their long ranged spells can OHKO anyone within 6-10 panels away, granted that they have the best staffs you can afford.
How do I get Flonne?
Healers are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because they don't get EXP from healing and bows suck.
So make a mage, and once you get enough points make a healer as with the mage, when the mage and the healer you made using the mage are standing next to eachother the mage can use the healers spells, you only have to level up the spell to learn it. This is a method of learning spells off class.
Bows suck.
Spear's special moves you.
Fist's special moves move the enemy.
Sword's special moves are the best because they have large AoE, including one of the later ones that has a 3x3 which is nessisary for grinding late game.
Guns are okay. Not great, but at least they are ranged attacks that isn't magic, also they aren't bows.
Staves are amazing and you should use them with mages instead of using a gun or bow, seriously. They increase damage, range, and AoE with weapon levels. Use them.
Late game swords will be the best option because the super OP weapon is a sword. Until then magic and swords are the best option. You also need one unit with high enough fist level to be able to move a unit off of floor advancing tiles for item world, making it easier to just run though high level item world floors to get OP gear that is better than what you can get at the moment in the story.
Honestly, item world is amazing, I have the achement for killing the super extra boss and haven't even started on the final chapter.
Chapter three is ice themed so the enemies are weak to fire, so get a fire mage.
EDIT: also a protip for late game, if a class has crap sword skill and you just need to get one to unlock a higher up class, just make a unit with a class that has high sword skill, grind up until you have a high enough sword skill to use the 3x3 nuke and enough points to reincarnate, then reincarnate into the class you want to level up, you will carry over your sword skill and abilities. Use this to get a theif with high enough sword skill to use the 3x3 nuke, then go to a grinding map and level up. Guns don't have a 3x3 nuke, and you need to be a little over LEVEL ONE THOUSAND to have a 100% steal rate on item god and item god 2, and trust me, being able to steal and run away like a coward is important with those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Another protip, enemies are stuipd and will go after your weakest units first in range. They won't go after the unit that can deal over 2 damage and will be able to be taken out in two turns, no they go after the unit you called 'KILL ME PLS' that is level 1. AoE attacks can be a problem though, you can solve this by just picking up the enemy, they do nothing the next turn, however the unit holding them takes damage, a lot of damage in most cases, so just give 'KILL ME PLS' a ton of movement items and have them rush over to pick up the enemy at the end of your turn to have them take one for the team and prevent the enemy from having a turn.
its also useful to make some garbage clerics for your characters to train them to cast healing spells on themselves. Can be your please kill me units if you desire only need to spend one mana on them to make them easy enough to get them to 50 later on in the item world from the bonus gauge. for the biggest heal spell. But yeah some heal units are decent. healing ability on a warrior is good. they can also be taught the braveheart spell. which increases damage 20% and stacks with multiple castings up to 2x but the power wears off every turn by some amount.
