They're basically the same game but with different story, different characters and different mechanics (as expected from the first title and the later titles, content is much larger).
Disgaea PC is a great game, a game that brought a LOT of its fans and I assume many people bought the game for the same reason as me; for nostalgia. The Laharl, Etna and Flonne Trio is a great cast of characters and the game is quite simple in terms of its features.
I think you hyped yourself up too fast for the fifth Disgaea, I think playing the first then second etc would be a great order to play it in. Think about it, you're playing the series from its beginning, and you see the origin of it all, and then as you advance to the next game, you notice new features and entice you to play more and be more drawn into the game and the series. Then you'll get to 5 and be amazed at how much it's changed since the first. And you'll appreciate them all.
But if you went straight to 5, you'll have loads of fun. But should you decide to play 1 and 2, you'll be setting yourself up for disappointment and you'll think "Oh... this game doesn't have ________ or ____" etc.
TL:DR: All the games are standalone, but if you want to enjoy the full experience, best start from numero uno and work yourself uppo
You're welcome :)
Yeah I hope they come to PC too xD
Hope you enjoy and have fun!
time if you dont care to play with very outdated graphics and old UI.
I don't mind outdated graphics,as I have played plenty of old(er) games, disgaea not being an exception to this as I have lots of fun in it.
You'll appreciate appearences from earlier characters and inside jokes a lot more by playing them in order. I'd go into detail but I don't want to ruin anything. I hope you enjoy... I'm having trouble myself not rushing through one to play the other, haha.
