This, or the PSP version?
I have a playstation vita and was considering getting the digital versions of Disgaea on that rather than this version. Would I be missing out on a significant amount of content?

Nope, in fact, they are adding things from the DS port too.
This is slightly better than PSP.
Disgaea 2 will be that way as well.

you will be missing on few playable characters, updated UI and updated ground textures

I really like the PC version. There's some nice extra content, and for me it runs great.

i had the psp version on my vita,this version has achievements and you can play it on your computer while the psp one is portable.

this version doesn't have prinny commentary from the ds version tho
