Yes.
Ideally you'd've taught your Angels spells long before you ever got around to transmigrating them into Angels in the first place.
But any serious fighters should definitely be trained to cast the clerical spells. Skull / Mage spells are nice to have on hand, but they can slide if you decide to go with a sword.
If you intend to collect the higher-end weapons via the Item World, you'll definitely want a Strider. It doesn't matter what level it is so long as it can cast Geo Change.
You'll likewise want a thief, and a decently levelled one at that. Don't go too far out of your way to train one - have one character do the bulk of the fighting, and watch their levels soar. Then, when you hit a stage with Invincibility tiles, use team attacks to share some XP to your weaker team members.
Whatever takes your fancy, but you're currently over-levelled for your current chapter. You should be moving on in order to gain access to the more efficient training stages in the later chapters.
(The secret of Disgaea is that it's all about figuring how to gain maximum power with the least amount of grinding. Move on whenever you can!)
Assuming you want to clear all the additional content too, then your main goals are to gather a full stack of Statisticians and Armsmasters, then to create a sword so powerful that any of your characters can use it to one-shot everything in Cave of Ordeals map 3. It doesn't really matter when you do this - after the credits roll you can start the game over with your current squad (items and levels and all), so there's really not much point in holding back.
She's better off with a staff. Pretty much the only reason to use bows is to unlock the Archer class... and the only reason to use the Archer class is to unlock the Angel class.
And the only reason to unlock the Angel class is because... it might make it easier to unlock the Majin class? Maybe? That, and for 100% completion.
Humans
-Ninjas with either Axe or Fist weapons
-Mages with staff staff weapons and getting a heal spell from a pupil. It was possible to make them into powerful Clerics or Knights if lacking angels as an alternative for increasing their defense.
-Thief character with Guns for stealing rare items
Other classes are mainly used just for unlocks
Endgame Humans
-Angels replace everything but Ninjas, Thieves or Gun users. They tend to use whatever weapon they had before in other words swords, axes, bows, spears or staff weapons. May want to transmigrate from your mages to get most if not all spells or just consider them an upgrade for the other weapon focused classes.
-EDF soldiers make good filler humans but monsters are better in the short run. Still they are ranged gun masters so they have their uses.
-Majins replace everything once you have taught them the skills you want.
Main Characters
-Flonne was only good with the staff as they scaled all their abilities with it.
-Laharl could use almost weapon apart from the staff or guns well and was useful for unlocking archers.
-Etna is used with spear or axe
The others are fairly obvious
Monsters
Captured monsters only as they can be level 100+ easily with very little work done by throwing a monster you can create into the start portal. If captured they join you after they have been revived. Give them powerful stat items then try getting an even more powerful one if you want. This is actually the fastest way of getting a powerful team to earn items or HL from zones until you use tricks like Armsmaster.
