Warrior Versus Samurai
Any reason not to transmigrate from warrior to samurai? Maybe if you wanted to use spears?

The only reason to keep warriors around is to unlock new classes, such as the Majin.

Why bother transmigrating my warrior? why not just make a new character for the samurai? keep the warrior around for lifting things.

Because you'll have to train it up from scratch, and if you want to teach it any spells, then you'll need to train it some pupils, too. It's a lot of work to hang on to an outdated class.

You gave your warrior spells?

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll transmigrate to the samurai for the better stats and the extra counter attack. Seems like there should be more to this class. Maybe an S proficiency in spears or something. Is this game still being patched?

Of course. Any unit can sustain itself with heals, a bit of extra long range splash is often handy for tapping geo symbols, and it's not like my warriors are going to remain warriors forever.

It also, in turn, allows their mentors to learn spells, minimising the amount of "actual" spellcasters I need to level up.

Not regularly, and I'd be surprised to see another update occur.

Certainly it's not going to receive any official balance tweaks, if that's what you're asking - this PC release is the fourth port the game's had without any obviously intentional changes in that area. Speaking about a title that's around 14 years old now.
