Primagens Lightship Vs The Final Confrontation
Thought this would be a good idea for a thread since I've seen this discussed before. Which did you enjoy more, which did you think was more well designed?

Well its kind of a hard one for me the final confrontation had a lot of awesome enemies, one of my fav parts in any game was the outside of the campaigners tower, triceratops roaming everywhere for you to take out. The rest of the level just adds to that, the industrial feel of it all, the robot men, the sewers and big crab things, the mix of a little bit of all the enemies, then the awesome trex boss, and the dudes who obviously♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥the campaigner off and are hanging by their feet (oddly enough with smiles on their faces). Really did kick major♥♥♥♥♥for the time. The trex is one of my fav bosses in any game as well. Sure he was kinda easy, basically just strafe and shoot... But then again, an easy awesome boss is cooler than a complex lame one imo.

But then there's the primagens lightship, which I also like, and in some ways more so than the final confrontation. Why? Well one thing the primagens lightship had over the other, the design and look. It was slick, I cant even think of a better designed level back then. And when I say this, I mean the authentic spaceship feel. The running lights, blinking consoles, telepads, mounted turrents, all that high tech background stuff, it was pretty impressive for the time. It def looks better than any level in Turok 2. And yea I know I praised the lair of the blind ones, but the lair of the blind ones was atmosphere, it was a design imagination that worked well, but I dont think it was as well crafted as the lightship. I still like the blind ones more as a level but its basically a setting that probably wasnt hard to make.

The primagens lightship however you could tell that's what they poured most of their level design into. It was far more advanced to me than the hive of the mantids. Given all that, its still a bit dissapointing cuz of one reason. 3 enemies... And they're drones... Not cool.

I never understood it either... Why just 3 enemies? I mean compared to all the awesome stuff the first one had... Oh well I get that the ship was an assembly plant and was ancient and the drones were being made and none of the other bad forces probably even knew about the lightship or where it was but still, they coulda at least included more drone types, or even some aliens, or dinosaur men, I mean the primagen couldn't have stationed a few just in case the drones didn't make it?

That's my one major gripe, but I have another one as well... The Mother Boss. Ok she was cool and rather disgusting, almost as impressive as the Trex, and much harder.. But my main complaint and something I wondered a lot... Why the hell does it run away, why is there a big ugly sob of an enemy, that doesn't die? I always wondered did it ever come back in other turok games? Why is it the primagen dies but it escapes somewhere. I wanted to see the thing die in some crazy grotesque gory way but instead it runs off... I never understood why.

Those are my major gripes but besides that I think it was a better designed and better looking level than the final confrontation, even tho I kinda like the dirty rusty industrial feel of the first ones better. The primagens lightship would of made a great template in a startrek or starwars game tho.

One other thing about the primagens lightship, it was kind of a puzzle more than an action romp like in T1. The whole air duct thing, purifying the water and jumping pin point platforms across deadly toxin water, was challenging, and fun, maybe not to everyone but I liked it. I just wish there had been more enemies. Over all I'd say the first one was a better level, more action, more enemies, and the climb to the trex/campaigner was a lot more epic. But its a hard one to say, since I really liked both a lot.

Which last level did you like better? Sorry if this is a long rant but I recentely beat both games and I'd been comparing the differences in my mind as I played them. I also think the campaigner is a better boss than the primagen, easier, but also more epic. The primagens fun and a big monster, but the campaigner gets pretty epic when he's getting battle damaged and showing his android side.

Turok and Turok2 both had really great music, especially for N64. I hated the 4th level the ruins for a lot of reasons but the music in that levels great.

i think the fast gameplay of T1 really shines in the Final Confrontation, and the music in that level is insane, so i might actually prefer it over the Primagen's Lightship. although i still like T2 more.
edit. oh and yeah, Thunder the T-Rex is bada$$.

The first one went out with a bang, even after replaying it, the game gets really good after the catacombs, but the endings is awesome.

Course I still like the primagens lightship level wise, just wish there was more enemies.
