The Maps have been Redesigned in T2 Remaster, But a little bit.
It's very little that was changed overall
I am kind of hoping for this, but not holding my breath. If it does happen then you know I'll pick the title up, but I am see they did alter them
Yeah, the levels were changed. The physical layouts have been altered for level 1 (two of the areas are now connected instead of being separated by a portal, and there is an all-new courtyard), level 2 (several mission objective areas have been clumsily thrust into the main path, now unavoidable and unmissable), level 4 (underwater maze simplified, some alterations in the end bits) and I think level 5 near the end? Though maybe not.
What isn't apparent on the map changes is how much key items such as keys, switches and such have been moved into the main path. Sometimes from a side area which becomes pretty much pointless, sometimes literally from around a corner.
I've played the remaster through several times and enjoyed it immensely thanks to the combat, but the changes HAVE been a massive disappointment on many levels (not ingame levels, but, well, you get what I mean). Do note however that my review for this game is pretty thoroughly positive, and I don't for a second regret my purchase (even without the idea of the money going towards possibly bringing Turok 3 and others closer to steam). But the level changes prevent this from being the definitive version for me, which for now is still the old PC port.
I'm also really, really hoping Quasar will come through for us and upload unchanged levels to the eventual workshop. Though as with T1 I firmly believe that a remaster such as this should include them in the main game without any need for mods (and launching through the editor, bleh), if it's the best we can get, I will absolutely take it, gladly.
(cue Snek?)
I don't think the levels stop this from being the best Turok 2 experience. Its fine if anyone disagrees but I think mod support, 60FPS, tons of QoL changes, proper FOV, and better mouse control more than makes up for some small level changes.
Go look up how to activate the existing level editor and check out how it works.
