Is Turok 2008 coming?
I saw this tweet on Night Dive's twitter:

https://twitter.com/NightDiveStudio/status/676898961949655045

I know it's not a well recieved game by the fans and got average reviews and not the best game in the series. I get that. But just curious if it really is coming? I would buy it.

I'll buy it, but ONLY if they give it an entirely new plot. I don't want anymore of this "Joseph Turok, Space Marine" nonsense. If he is to be a space marine, then fine. Make him a space marine, but make him EARN the name turok. Because Turok is NOT a name, it's a title. If they change it so that he sees a BIGGER theat than wolf pack, or whatever the hell it's called, then I'll consider that acceptable. How about wolf pack opens a portal to the lost land, and now all sorts of bad ♥♥♥♥ is getting out of it? Turok 2008 is not a Turok game... plain and simple. Calling it a Turok game makes as much sense as if I were to make a movie with a guy named Luke Skywalker. In the beginning of the movie, his wife leaves him, and he comes to the realization that he is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. So, the whole movie involves our hero, Luke Skywalker, overcoming his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nature. Does that sound like something that belongs in the Star Wars universe? No, it doesn't. And Turok 2008 does not belong in the Turok franchise.

Turok was originally a pulp style comic book series from the 50s that Acclaim completely changed into the 90s games we now know. Turok was his name and it was not this violent nor as fantastical. The 90s games are only loosely connected to the 50s comics in general concept only.

Turok is a fictional series and if this intended series reboot made by Disney was written to make his actual name Turok like it was in the 50s original series then that is entirely fine. I could say the same thing about the 90s Turok, that it really has barely anything in common with the 50s one; but honestly who cares as long as the games are fun and profit is made?

This is also ignoring all the other revamps and reboots, I should point out. Mostly in comic form that really aren't related to this but, worth mentioning.
Point... taken.

Turok 2008 was p good. It sadly lacked polish and of course ppl attacked it because it was different from older games...

Don't get me wrong. Turok 2008 IS a fun game, on it's own merrits. But calling it "Turok" is just freaking stupid. Like, literally, if they'd just not bought the license, and instead kept the game identical, WITHOUT naming it Turok, or calling the character Turok, theyed have avoided all copywrite claims. There are very few similarities. The only other similarities it DOES have with the Turok franchise have already been done BEFORE Turok games, anyway. Jurrasic park has dinosaurs, First Blood 2 has a bow with explosive arrows. The main character IS Native American, which is another similarity... but last time I checked, you can't copywrite a race of people. The company that made that game bought the license, and did practically nothing with it... and then they cancelled the sequel.
That was exactly my point... if they game had any other name other than Turok, people would have like it alot more.

Similar thing with dmc Devil may Cry really, not a bad game it just wasn't a 'dmc' game :p

Turok (2008) was a reboot of the franchise, and it was an awesome and gorgeous game! Sure, it had some frustrating moments, but it was still awesome. I played that game over and over, and the end was such a huge payoff. Honestly, this game is quite the underrated masterpiece, with a magnificent story, fascinating characters, lovely environments, and great and varied gameplay. I am still just as surprised that this game isn't available on Steam yet as I am about how people complain about this fantastic game. I am also still waiting for the [cancelled] sequel. One can always hope!

I honestly think if people gave it a chance, we would have had something really great on our hands. Of course first impressions matter but at the same time, it was not a notably terrible game either and what they had planned for the sequel was really promising. Other games that are equally as or far more mediocre in presentation or style go on to become bigger successes with sequels or atleast get a second chance in some way or form.

The thing with Turok 2008 is it isn't a bad game...but it is FAR from a Turok game. It did NOT stay true to the franchise. Literally, the only thing it had in common with the older games is it had dinosaurs and it was called Turok. And I think that is people's main complaint about it. It had nothing that made the older games, specifically the first two, special. I feel like if they called it something else it would have been better recieved.

Nonse. It was poorly received because it was just all around mediocre. It did nothing especially good and nothing especially bad.

Agree 100%. The fov was the worst; not only was it 65 but zoomed in even more in widescreen. Also using the fov cheat ruined zoom mode and prevented some background textures from displaying. If they don't fix the fov it be a slimy cash grab on their part.
