Turok

Worst final level I've ever seen
I was excited to finally complete the game after collecting everything in the game. However, the 8th level turned out to be a 1-hour-long dreadful nightmare. You don't have to collect keys anymore so what's the point of making the level that long? You literally fight the same enemies over and over again in almost the same environments. The only addition were the crab monsters but you just have to introduce them to your grenade launcher and they are gone. The boss fights were poor too, with the T-Rex one being too tedious (all I had to do was strafe circle and fire all my ammo into it) and the Campaigner one being too easy with the minigun - I didn't even bother trying out the Chronoscepter on him. I don't even want to mention how long the boring credits screen took to finish. A terrible ending to a mediocre game. Disappointing, really. I don't think I'm ever gonna touch this game again after I uninstall it.

EDIT:

Yeah, I know it was designed for a console and it might a great game for Nintendo 64 standards but on the PC it is outdone in every aspect by other games from the same era.

I think you don't understand what's the issue here lol.

It's an old game that was primarily designed for a console, gameplay and level design principles are as far off modern standards as you can imagine.

If you approach it as you would any game that was developed and released in modern era then yeah - the game is bad, really simple and bad.

But for a retro throwback that was built according to principles that are long gone it does it's job.
the 8th level is ugly. the question for me is: the WORST level... if were good n playable level with stimolant think if are not the same. turok is a great game, more n more than modern games. now games are always the same n tedius. when i play turok at 7th year in 1997 i was letteraly folgored. was fantastic. i never forgett. now with editor will be immortal!!! make a new campaiin or a new n best new final level. its a challange. not only criticize.. do somthing!

Honestly I always liked the last level. Its a long endurance round with a lot of tension and I like the feeling of being pressured and almost as if I will die of ammo stravation and of a thousand cuts.

Turok has a lot of problems and thats not a knock against it, the 90s was an earlier time in gaming that had a lot of experimentation. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it kind of worked and sometimes not at all. But that is part of the fun of older games, I think at least.

I enjoyed the final level on hard mode (ammo management was pretty clutch). Dooms were good but I liked Quake 1 & 2 more. I would have to say that Turok was the best and most memorable fps of the 90's for me though.

I really like the last level and how long it is. I wish more games had parts like that which really drive home the feeling of a grueling journey, when reaching the end is actually a meaningful feeling. In modern games where everything is designed to please you non-stop and not give you any trouble, there is zero emotion and almost no feeling of achievement or overcoming the odds or the looming challenge. Turok's last level isn't some carnival ride, it's an actual final endurance challenge that makes you feel like Turok, and not like a kid on a roller-coaster.

A bit long i guess but the tension i got from it was well worth it.
Trial by fire level and the accomplishment i felt when it was all done was nothing short of amazing.

Then again im a old school fps fanatic.

The final boss wasnt too bad....T-Rex was kinda meh...I think the best boss in the game though was the Mantis. That was fun. :)

Yeah the Mantis fight was the most balanced boss battle in my opinion.

Well if it's too easy, try this game old school style, without strafing.

When I played it back in time, I only used forward and backward on the arrow key pad and looked with the mouse. It felt like driving a boar but it was fun and kinda challenging.
