C# Mono branch for Steam?
It would be nice to have an auto-updating stable branch for Godot, but the Steam version is not compiled with Mono enabled.

Additionally, currently, the C# example projects don't load properly in Godot on Steam.

Bumping this ancient thread (also because it shows up high in search) it seems a bit silly to offer all those older versions of it in the beta's menu but not the 'experimental' C# version. Especially since a lot of official Godot documentation has example code provided in C# and GDScript alongside of eachother.

Agree, the mono version of Godot is stable enough

I thought my copy of Godot or Visual Studio was bugged, they should tell you somewhere that C# support isn't in the Steam version.

SIX years later and we still don't have a mono branch :(

It isn't a default version so not sure why you'd assume it is the C# version on Steam.

Bump it please.

Convenience of not having to download it and update manually.

I would use the Steam version if it would support C#.

May I ask why use Godot on Steam instead of downloading through their website? Not trying to provoke or anything, I'm just curious as to why some people prefer to use it on Steam.
Auto updates, and i do like to see just how much time i use on stuff.

C# is an industry cancer, bloatware and only conventionally open source (which was already and almost became proprietary). It engages in an orbit of destructive influence from Microsoft. Also pulling C# into the engine really slows and complicates its development. It shouldn't be in the engine at all. In turn, GDSript and GDExtension (GDNative) are the optimal development tools most suitable for this engine.

I don't know man, Unity uses C# and that was the goto engine for indie (and garbage) games before the company decided to push away almost their entire userbase.

That's why Unity games are so problematic, slow and stuttering. Unity is a very strange and ridiculous engine that is not properly suitable for almost anything. For example, development on it is 2-4 times more expensive than on Unreal Engine, and >2 times more expensive than on Godot Engine. Why is anyone still using it? Baby duck syndrome? I don't understand, it's not economically feasible.

P.S. My opinion about C# and Unity is based on ten years of work in game development, using various game engines (in particular, I have been interacting with the Godot engine for several years now).
