Endless Sky

10 Million Credits in 5 Minutes or less.
Sure, we could all grind out our space-wallets and deal with pirates ransacking our tiny tugboat of a ship... but why?

Well I stumbled upon a unique little game mechanic/bug that works great for those looking to get out of that ugly starter shuttle. (Found ironically while trying to upgrade to a new ship.) Enough babble, lets get to the good stuff.

1. First things first, you'll need $276,000 to burn, more is better.

2. Head to the ALPHARD system. (Point just below ZOSMA system, trailing from map section "The Deep").... then quite simply, land.

3. Head into the SHIPYARD, scroll all the way down till you see the Fighter "Dagger".... buy it.*
*Must have a shuttle or ship that cannot carry fighters!!!*

4. Depart from the planet. The game cannot load your fighter into a fighter bay so they spawn with you as you leave orbit. You should now have the same amount of money you had when you first LANDED. (enough for more fighters!)

5. Now, lets land again. .... Back to the shipyard.

6. SELL your useless fighter... and buy another or 3, or 5... or 100!

7. Just rinse and repeat. Land, buy, leave, land, sell.

Hope it works just as well for the rest of you! :) Happy Trading!

*** UPDATE: Being filthy rich may be fun, but ultimately makes the game dull. All that money pretty much leaves you listless and looking for things to do beside watch how fast you can blow other ships to pieces. To each their own though. ***

hmm id prob call this a bug or an exploit (a.k.a. cheat)

honestly this would ruin the fun of the game for me, and if you really wanted money that bad then you can just edit your save file to give you however much you want.

It should also be noted that the game starts to lag pretty heavily once you have 400M-500M credits' worth of fighters, slowing down the otherwise exponential growth of your money.

This is pointless, as now you're just motivating people that might otherwise not have cheated, to use an exploit. And those that do want to cheat got better ways to do so. It's a good bug report tho ;)

Or just salvage one korath ship :D
I'd simply download Cheat Engine, select the Endless Sky program, search for your money value and adjust it to your liking. I'd say it sure beats this in simplicity.

Why even do that.. it is literally written straight up as a line very clearly noted "Credits" in your save game, which a .txt file.. No cheat engine required, if you know how to open a text file, edit the labeled credits number, and save :s

It's an option for those not into grinding or looking to play with a ship they like. Not required and not an easy thing to do on accident.

Ugh, so complicated. .txt files are so complex that you can't possibly expect me to edit those. It's like one of the hardest things you could ask of someone.

(You win, okay...)

Yes, but again, this can easily be accomplished in 20 seconds by simply opening up your savegame text file, and typing in a credits number where it says "Credits"

There are "no cheats out" because cheats aren't necessary. This entire game is written in .txt files in very clear letters, not even coding. You can literally do anything want with your savegame provided you know how to spell, and what numbers are ;p

To add on that, you can find your savegame.txt in [username] > AppData > Roaming > Endless Sky > Savegames > [Profilename]

That's because Microsoft decided that the AppData (sometimes "Application Data") folder should be hidden, and that they should rename it every time a new version of Windows is released.

Check out the pinned FAQ at the top of the forum for specific locations to find your save files.

What doesn't work, the Original post, or the editing of the .txt file? If you're saying the OP doesn't work anymore, that's very likely, as this was a bug that has probably since been fixed ;p

This thread should not have been unburried. Old bug exploit that probably no longer works.
