I could advise you to get DCS A10C Warthog if you have a joystick, Crusader Kings II (especially fun with new update), or X3 bundle (only played an hour) all good games; the catch 22 is you would still probably want to own and play Risen 2 if you bought those other games and rightfully so.
Risen 2 has the occasional crocodile to battle. I definitely think Risen 2 is worth $9.99.
Did you make it to harbour town or the monestary in Risen 1? I thought the game picked up there. The graphics in Risen 1 although not that great, just above Morrowind's on Xbox, kinda started to grow on me after a while.
Humor and graphics means very little to me, especially in an rpg. What I am looking for is solid gameplay, combat, and varied questing, most of which is completely absent in all these gameplay videos I've seen.
The enemies you battle have a nice difficulty. The gameplay, combat are alright, but not spectacular. I have a feeling you might not consider them solid because they are fairly simplistic. I thought they weren't crap though. I will admit Skyrim has better combat (better combat control options for the most part).
I thought the quests given were fairly entertaining. I was motivated to finish quests. I will admit I'm not a huge pirate fan but once I try a pirate game I am usually entertained. I thought the quests given were fairly entertaining, tied into the story, and for some reason I liked them more than generics Skyrim's quests. Matter of taste maybe. Overall I gave Risen 2 an 8.5/10, and I'd give Skyrim a 9.0/10.
If you're looking for a masterly crafted world, sometimes nicely done characters (not the models, but the writing) and a unique (read: not TES) take on RPG, you might enjoy Risen 2. If you haven't played Risen 1, go play that as it's 100x better imo.
