Wilson's pistol (no bullets)

I just got wilson's pistol and I'm supposed to be able to use it, however no ammo shows up for it. I have another weapon which uses the same ammo and when I equip that one it says 126 next to the weapon. I cannot fire wilson's weapon. Does it use some kind of super-special ammo? I have both lead shot and bullets. Bug?

this weapons is just for a quest, you can't use it! ;)
