How do I play the DLC

I bought the Treasure Isle DLC a couple of days ago in the sale. I have the base game completed. However I can't figure out how to do the DLC.

If I load new game, that is what I get. If I load my last save it is after I killed the last enemy. All I get is to talk to Patty, a cut scene, and then the credits.

I presume to play the DLC, I need to load an earlier save, before I got to the final island. I hope I have a save for that. I presume the DLC is an island that now appears on the map. Bit of an odd way of doing things though. Please can someone tell me for sure what to do.

Is the DLC integrated into the core game as additional adventures you can undertake? Maybe you need not to have finished the game in order to play the DLC. I am only on the 2nd island, but I have been assuming that it is just new content you can do while playing the main storyline. I hope we can find out from someone who knows the answer...heh

Once you leave sword coast, talk to patty, and she will give you the side quests.

OK, ty, I hope I have a save which is previous to me arriving at the last island. I have a bad feeling all my save might be on that last island during the final battles. However I am sure you can't leave the last island once you sail for it. If so I can't access the DLC without replaying the whole game, and that is not going to happen. I like Risen 2, but not another 50hours worth just to get the DLC. It will leave me feeling ripped off.

If I recall correctly I wanted to check out something before I went to the last island. Anyway I clicked go to there just to see what it was like. I think I found I was stuck there. Maybe I can leave. I will have to check again.

I found an earlier save to load. The DLC Treasuer Isle is listed in my 'active quests'.

I am going to try to load a save from the last island and leave. I am sure I can't but I want to try so I don't have to fight the sea beastie again, or teh stuffon the island.
