Fps drops with stutters
Heya so I got the game today and it was running good at first but once I got out of the 1st area it started dropping frames in both buildings and open areas, tried to change some settings around without making the game look awful but didnt help much. My specs are RTX 3050, i5 - 11400h and 16 gb ram, playing on a laptop (Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57) if that helps. Laptop is 2 weeks old just in case someone wants to ask.

That guide is the best you can do, this game runs on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine that has had problems since launch.

Honestly, it disgusts me that the game rose to very positive reviews.

Yeah I was surprised that it had such good % in reviews and runs so poorly after the 1st area, I already refunded the game since most of the time I played was just spent tinkering with options that didnt help, but thanks anyway! If I ever get the game again, ill be sure to check the guide.
Thanks for the Update on how it runs, i almost bought it.

the game is very cpu heavy and some areas will lag no matter what you do to graphics settings or resolution changes

The game's framerate ties in with the mouse speed so you'll have issues if you let the game run free. For a 60hz display this shouldn't be a problem so long as you can maintain that framerate. I have a 144hz and I can't maintain that framerate on ultra details with reshade, so I set the game to Adaptive Half Sync (72fps), which can be done in the game's settings or the graphics driver directly. Once you have a consistent framerate you can adjust mouse settings to your liking. It won't run as well as D1, but this should address any stuttering.

I get a solid 72fps throughout on Ultra. Around 65-70% load. With the reshade I'm using it's around 85% load.

Nearly constant 120 fps ultra here also.

Laptops are not good for gaming unless you got some magic cooling solution. Check your hardware temps.

Nearly could give worse results than a guaranteed fixed rate, thanks to the awful mouse issues the game has. For this game it's best to give the GPU some headroom.

Well its a new laptop and so far works good on most other games ive tried so cant really say anything bad, besides the game having horrible optimization which ive read about all over steam, reddit and so on. Temps are fine btw, not going above the norm.

Got it running with settings higher than the default ultra since i got ambient occlusion and a fov of 110 which also tax the system a bit more. G-sync on and V-sync disabled. Resolution is 4k.

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57 would likely be better of with a fps limiter of 60 in options of game and G-sync or VRR enabled in nvidia control panel. The game also got a setting that allow a dynamic resolution to adjust quality on the go.

Settings like shadows might be what is taxing the CPU most. for GPU it is likely water quality that should be lowered since it looks like screen space reflection galore.

And keep the resolution at 1080 with that GPU with FXAA AA enabled if you need to get of some jagged edges.

thing is, my cpu isnt getting used that much, my gpu is just being underused which leads to that problem of dropping fps. Ill try running the demo with some changed settings according to your suggestions.

So I just tried locking the fps to 72, and yeah it worked, the game runs at full gpu usage not like before and it stays at solid 72 fps on all high settings with the sharpness thing enabled as well.

try opening the timepiece in the Stilton Manor, that made me go from 120fps to 80 and occasionally 60

Yeh I’m running on a 4070ti ryzen 7 5800x and 32 gb ram 3600mhz, if you have a system like this is won’t go below 60fps in the more hectic open areas but it has briefly dropped to 30 fps at some places like the boat ride to the dock in karnaca I’m running it at 1440p and an average of 165fps(apart for those weird open map moments) it’s just the game, it’s poorly optimised I had the same problem with a laptop, With a 2080 super max q and it’s was running above 120fps and had the frame dropped in all the areas that everyone talks about.

How does vsync off + triple buffering on work?
