How do you non-lethal someone sitting in a chair?

So i came across this overseer outpost and on the top floor there's a guy sitting in a chair at a desk. How do I dispose of him without killing him? The choke prompt doesn't come up. Why are chairs the ultimate defense against choking?

You can do it in most chairs, but you have to look at them from the sides in most cases. Even at their sides it only seems to work when looking at them from specific angles. I've only seen one or two chairs where I legitimately could not find an angle where the prompt didn't eventually appear.

I usually just hit them with a sleep dart if they're in a chair, or startle them with a thrown item and choke them later. The chair thing is admittedly pretty annoying though, yes.

Edit: Apparently you can just throw something at their head to knock them out too, so there's that.

I just turned the grandfather clock and sneaked outside to the balcony like place and when he got up choked him. Other than that ya, chairs are the almighty shield. If there was ever a boss on a chair we should just run Or maybe there's a way and I haven't seen but I kept trying in the overseer place.

Get a cloroform bottle and throw it in his direction (you don't have to actually hit him, head or not). Sleep darts as well. Stun mine too. Even a sting dart will get the job done (results may vary).

I found that I can choke sitting enemies at times. I guess it depends on the quality of the chair.

I tried everything but throwing at his head (I was out of sleep darts at the time) After multiple reloads him and his two guards were my only kills in the mission. I'll remember that.

Hmm. It's early in the game so I don't think I have any sleeping darts yet. Will try the knockout thing. This is pretty ridiculous though.

If you don't have a crossbow then yeah that could be a problem. I havent got far into the game so i don't know. Maybe i will stuck at the same point when i get there after they patch performance.

Okay, I have successfuly knocked out the overseer by throwing a bottle at his head. It's cool that it works. However, the bottle shatters loudly, drawing nearby guards. Even though I can escape in time, there's not enough time to hide the body. So this doesn't work for my playthrough. It's prety asinine too, the game will let me pick up the loud bottle, but not the wooden-looking heavy ashtray nearby.

Need a different solution.

ROFL. This DOES actually work.
It's immersion-breaking, and utterly idiotic, and I can't tell what drugs the gameplay and animation designers were on, but by Jove, it works!
