how to take down clockwork soldiers? Low Chaos

The only way I know to take them out is shoot their heads of, but they always end up killing someone else on my Low Chaos run.

Drop Assassinate them twice. Done.

Buy Mokey Wrench upgrade for your sword. Then you can stealth kill them always and when you fight with them, you can give them a lot of damage. Also destroying clockwork soldiers doesn't effect your chaos level.

also, the you don't need the Monkey Wrench upgrade to stealth kill them, if you have the time stop upgrade for your blink, just teleport away right after you do a drop assassination on them and they won't be alerted

or shoot the head with a bolt to knock it off. Best to do it while zoomed in and the soldier is holding still

They don’t react well to stun mines.

I'm pretty sure they are weak on the back. 5-6 well placed hits and they explode.

2 well placed hits can kill it. One to remove the casing and then hit the whale oil canister and they die.

The BEST choice against them are stun electro-mines. You have to upgrade these mines at least to 2nd level (each mine has 2 waves).
However just use mine on the walls or floor - safe method for ghost achievement and non-lethal playthrough.

the BEST way for elemination within stealth mode are upgraded stun mines. Easy.

Stun mines if they're around people. Spring razors if they're not.

I hit them with an imolating bolt and then as they are burning, I hit them with a couple of pistol shots and they are toast.

stun mine works both if they are asleep - just eliminate them, or if they walking - put ahead of their path.

For Corvo: blink above them for a drop assassinate twice.
For Emily: Grapple the roof for a drop assassinate this is harder to do though because her ability somewhat flings you twice.
