Are the stories connected?

I played Dishonored 1 for like 30 min and then refunded it, maybe 6 months ago. I bought the Prey - Dishonored 2 bundle, so I was wondering if the Dishonored 1 and Dishonored 2 stories are connected, and if I should play through the first one first?

Not really because your decisions made in dishonored 1 do not affect dishonored 2

i mean do i need to know the plot of 1 to understand 2?

Yeah you should really play Dishonored 1 and all the story DLC for it to get the most from this game.

if you'd enjoy the second one you'd enjoy the first one anyway, so don't feel like you'd be missing out. definitely go for the first one first.

the time difference between the two games is like 10-15 years. while the story is understandable without playing the first game, there are several charaters that return from the first one and its DLC's. from the main baddie, Delilah, to support characters like the genious scientist Sokolov, or the misterious entity, the Outsider. you can play the secound game and understand the story perfectly without prior knowledge, but to fully understand the motivation and personality of the returning charaters, you should play the first game.

Playing the first makes the second one more enjoyable imo
