How do you rotate the structures?
I've completed the tutorial and haven't seen anything about rotating structures when you are going to place them. Everytime I go to place one, it will randomly pick an orientation. I've tried every key in an attempt to rotate the structure. I also tried looking through the in-game help tab.

Can anyone help me?

I don't think orientation is relevant.

You cannot, they rotate to the correct positions if needed, most are round so it makes no difference how they are done..

ya i want it too mainly just for the airlock

The airlock will rotate to orient to whatever building it becomes connected to. But yeah in a few cases it could be nice to have.

Go to place, cancel, go to place again, repeat.

Just answer "yes/no", don't try to be a smart ass about it because yes, to some people it does matter. for instance; which way your airlock faces plays a decent roll in how the rest of the base is formed. So again, don't be a smart ass.

if you place i mine it woulg be nice to rotate the entry

All the domes are circular, so how would rotation make any difference?

Only matters for the airlock, I think, and the airlock will auto rotate to be straight out from the first structure you connect it to. So to make sure it's facing the colony ship, you'd have to place it in a direct line between the colony ship and the oxy genereator (or whatever building you decided to place first).

There is a mod that gives you more options:

Not quite full free rotation, but better than nothing if you want more control. I haven't tried it, but going by the description, it looks like it should allow you to orient the airlock towards the ship by building a temporary outdoor structure that the mod can "lock on" to (one that connects with a walkway rather than a pipe) between the airlock and the ship.

the mines are the only ones of real consequence

The only thing you can successfully rotate is the air lock. To do this, place the air lock down first, then place something down to connect to it. When you connect them, the air lock will auto face away from the connection point. So if its pointing to the left and you want it to face up, simply place the next connection below it and connect them.

But in practice the airlocks and mines are so small that the location of the entrances is pretty irrelevant anyway. I've certainly never seen one postioned in such a way that the entrance could not be used, which is the only thing that really matters.

Same. Distance from the airlock to destination, or mine to airlock can matter a lot in the beginning, but orientaion doesn't cause enough of a walk delay to really matter.
