String Theory

Practice Mode?
I'm not very far and I have taken music theory courses so I am familiar with chords but I am also fairly rusty... But I was thinking that, at least for me, a practice mode where you can see what the notes are would be very useful for those who are not familiar with the subject matter. Have a scale on the bottom and like when you pluck a string the corresponding note lights up showing that that is the note you plucked. So then if people are still really interested but not familiar, they can practice and learn the scales and how the chords sound (and also look.)
I think another way to do this would be to have practice versions of the tiers, where it just displays the note over each string, much in the way it does when you cut the string, so that it would be easier to learn the notes because not only is there the sound, which some people may struggle with, but also a visual. I know I myself am a visual learner, it's best for me to see to learn. I came up with this after playing a bit and also seeing some of the negative reviews (was looking at them because I was thinking like "Why would you not like this game?") Anyway that was just my idea, what do you guys think?

EDIT: Or maybe even for the first couple tiers (like tiers 1-5 or something) have the notes displayed on the strings.

I'd be worried a "pratice mode," showing the player what note they're plucking as they pluck it, could undercut the crux of the game, which is blind ear training, if it were available for every single level. But, it could be a valuable addition to early levels, particularly for players with more theory knowledge than ear training. I'll keep it in mind for the future. Thanks!

This is a very interesting question.
For those who can already sing Major and minor arpeggios this game is a bucket'o fun.... the gamification of well established internalized arpeggios has been accomplished by 'String Theory'. 10/10.

If I understand you Charles Finley, what you are asking is "could you (ST devs) train me (CF) to sing Major and minor arpeggios (internally / externally) as a seperate entity, with the assumption that I then could better play the game (ST)?"

I looked and found software for ear (solfege) training; but as far as I can tell there is NO software in this realm that is gamefied.... Personally I think that 'gamefied solfege TRAINING' would be naturally complementary to 'String Theory'. It's all in the natural order....

But just for a momment consider the folllowing; what would be amazingly amazing is 'gamefied theory' in music.

Always humbled in the presence of giants....

Solfege would be a valuable addition! I'll mull over how it could be implemented, and keep it in mind.
