Help, looking for how to enable cheats.
I'm trying to make it so I can use cheats, I looked it up and everything, messed with the game.prefs folder like how I was told, put cheats on true, and cheats still won't come on for me, has anyone been able to get cheats? please help.

If I may put in my two cents....

I can understand that cheating may not be acceptable to some people when it comes to playing a game, but it has other uses as well. I, for one, mod SC2, and without being able to cheat, testing would take FOREVER.

Take, for example, the Avalanche. A massive unit, cybran, and of the 6th teir -- for those that don't know, the 5th tier of units includes all the major experimentals, such as the King Kriptor and Universal Colossus. It takes about 15 minutes to build, and a ton of resources. Now, if I wanted to test if a new projectile effect that I was going to use on the Avalance, do I really want to spend two hours (my computer is slow) waiting to see if the game will crash or not? Or, should I just cheat and figure out whether I did something wrong in 2 minutes?

Another example. I have to make sure the AI builds some new experimentals. Take, for example, the avalanche. Do I want to have to spend my time building up a base to defend myself, or can I just cheat, put a couple of XP turrets (yes, I've added those) around me, speed up the game, and find out much quicker?

Basically, cheating is important for developers, and therefore, in my opinion, whether gamers use it or not is irrelevant (did I spell that right?).

About the issue that should actually be discussed here...did you try backing up and then deleting the game.prefs file? If you did something wrong, it's best to start from scratch sometimes. Also make sure you have the appropriate syntax -- true should have these 's around it ( 'true' ) and there should be a comma after it. There should be a space between the "=" sign and 'true'. I know this sounds a bit detailed, but if you don't do it, it messes things up...a lot.

I did all this, I have a backup file from a few days ago, I managed to change my unit cap from the base amount to twice what it should be. but I put 'True' for cheats, and nothing happens, I press 'Z' which is supposed to enable the console, and then alt+ctrl+B is supposed to ma\x out energy and credits, but it doesn't....
Where you able to make it work?

Well...the only fault I could think of is this -- make sure that "true" isn't capitalized.

You have all the keybinds right. Of course, I use Alt+F2 a lot, since I mod. (So yes, I was able to make it work)

Could you copy and past all of the things that i need to add in/change/ edit/ whatever, and I've heard that if you buy it from steam and not on disc that this dosent work, but that was just one source

Well, I just copied the options table from my game.prefs file in, but I noticed....cheats was set to false. After some investigating, it seems that in my game.prefs.backup file, cheats are set to true, but not in game.prefs. So...try setting cheats to false in game.prefs and to true in game.prefs.backup, and see if it works.

And true was not capitalized, i just have a capitalazation habit :P,but on every guide explaining how to do it they tell you to add this

debug = {

Just help the kid. You can do a lot of fun stuff with the console, like building the unarmored T-rex as seen in the campaign. Or some really fast gunships that can only be found in the campaign. (just find the mod that unlocks console)

There might be some info in this topic. Else take a look here;

You can do anything you want once you find the correct link. Build 3 acu's spawn experimentals and so on. Online mode will be disabled once you launch the mod.

have funs!

As you can tell, I haven't done this for a while :)

Also, sorry about asking about every little detail (and therefore, not "Just helping the kid", as it has been put). It's just that after modding for a while, you realize that you have to go into extreme detail with instructions or else people get mad with you....(I've seen "this mod doesn't work for me" so many times....)

Yes, you should have enable_debug_facilities = true.
ALBINOsnowball 2013 年 8 月 13 日 下午 3:35
Well, if you're really desperate, I have another possibility, though it's a bit more extreme.

I thought it was very odd that my game.prefs file didn't have cheats enabled, and I've realized why. The mod that I'm building off of, called revamp, takes the cheats and pretty much turns them into normal keybinds, so you don't actually have to enable cheats. I just deleted the game.prefs file, started a game, and I could cheat just fine.

The downside is, the mod includes more than just keybinds for cheats.

So, if you need a last resort, here's the link: http://www.moddb.com/mods/revamp-mod

No Radec, the point is that a lot a people like you, assume that when someone cheats, he/she only play using cheats. Also that people can not get satisfaction by cheating on their game.

People play in all kind of ways, different on each game. Following the imaginary and subjective railroad of legit, cheating, playing normally once, cheating later. Sometimes parts of a game can be so frustrating or infuriating that is not worth to do, so what we do? Give it a break and try it later, and if still don't work, cheat. As long you are not cheating on a competitive gaming, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Why should you feel obligated to prove your value as a human being by your actions in a single play game?

My points was to show how many other subjects about gaming end up in pointless lectures by other gamers. Many are related to cheating. For example, some people believe that the ONLY reason to someone cheats, is to unlock achievements. Ignoring that before Xbox, achievements was not even a thing.
And what happened with the phrase, "is just a game"? Isn't suppose to be, don't make big deal about what is related to games, just have fun?
I like how you say people like me making assumptions as i did on him and then complaining about it
