SC2 Connection problems
Can anyone help me? I have trouble maintaining a multiplayer game, keep getting connection dropped and then it comes back. I t keeps repeating this every few minutes till in drops permanetly. My internet is not going out because steam dosn't lose it's connection and I'm talking to my friends in TS while playing. The ports for steam are opened in my browser, and my firewall lets the game through. Thanks for any information you can provide.

The last days everything was fine. But since today its like hell! Everytime i play multiplayer it crashes. after a few minutes i receive a Message-Box telling me Bad Connection or smth and then all other humans player are gone (in a big explosion). YOU ARE NOT ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM :-( Damn you steam! If you force us to your servers to play - then make your servers do their f...king job!

I'm having the same problem but i got no idea how to fix it.
Worms doesn't work either. Seems to be a steam-server-problem.

Steam does not host the multiplayer sc2 games, the host is one of the actual people playing multiplayer, which is why the host can change all the settings of the game. It very possible while your net is not going out you maybe getting things like high latency which is affecting your games (high ping etc) Which do not generally affect things like ts, steam, general browsing etc.

Obviously first thing, switch router off for about a min, then switch back on, run some speed tests. (speedtest.net is a good one).

As a general rule of thumb Ping below 100 is good, below 50 is excellent. Though it can depend on the game. If you have a really high ping this will cause games connection issues and lag. Even though your download speeds may appear visually to be okay. (pings can vary from server to server though)

If you do have high pings, you need to speak to your isp.

I have a similar issue...Have you ever figured out a fix...?

I actually lose my internet connection when i join a multiplayer game. i stay connected to my router my my internet in my whole house shuts down.

I have looking for help on this issue for a while

This sounds like a bandwidth issue. You say the whole house shuts down. Is anyone running any peer to peer software or downloading torrents? Having dowload programs such as utorrent, emule etc running in the background can eat up your bandwidth and may not leave enough speed for other programs to access the net, running sc2 may just eat the rest up, leaving no more for surfing. (this is just an example)

If no one has any downloading software running. Then I would check your internet speeds, if your speeds are fine, I would then look at your router.

Essentially when your joiing a multiplayer game of sc2, you're simpy connecting to another persons computer, your not going through any gaming servers and your not using steam etc, If it was the other persons connection and not yours, you would not loose connection to other things, you would simply not be able to connect, or your sc2 would drop connection, but everything else would continue to work fine, also this would not affect anyone else in the house, just you directly.

As you are able to join, then you loose your entire internet, this points at a fault at your side somewhere, the most likely culprit is your router, have you another you can try or lend to try? If changing your router does not help or you do not have a spare, I would speak to your Internet Service Provider (isp).

Hi, Thanks for the response. I feel like I have troubleshot just about everything...I have

Bought a new Router - No help
Tried a different modem - No help
Hard wired directly to my modem - NO help
installed SC2 on a different computer in my house - same problem
My internet speeds are very good - 26 DL 10 Up from wireless/ 55DL 15Ul Wired

I do not have any torrent programs of P2P programs running.

My ISP says everything is fine...

The disconnect happens after I join the lobby..usually when the 3rd person joins, or if I join a loby with more than 2 people in it (this is what I have noticed)

Like I said...sometimes it actually lets me make a game...But then I will usually DC on the next one...

Here is something to try, Can you host a game of sc2 on another computer in your house, then join it with this computer without any issue?
