Is SC2 worse than SC1?
it seems to lack depth and even the interface seems worse

Supreme Commander 2 is what happens when you take the critics seriously. Everything about it that people don't like compared to the first one is a direct result of the devs taking reviewers feedback into consideration and changing the game to address their complaints. If you look at reviews of the first game it all focuses on "too complicated, stealth=bad, needs more experimentals and faster path to experimentals, factions too similar (goodbye aeon navy lol), economy too complex waaaah, etc". So the devs made SC2 with all of those complaints in mind and unsurprisingly the end result was lackluster compared to the first.

Moral of the story, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.

I like Miners Feb 20, 2015 @ 8:24am
people say it is wort the thing is is that in sc1 everything to me was scattered graphics in this are wayy better. Another thing I like about it is the units fit together in one faction in sc1 units where awkward sometimes the scaling is a little weird but It is still really fun I would get it.

I have it, it just seems less of a game.
Still no keybindings and graphics only marginally better. Too few normal units, too many experimentals. Dumbed down version of everything.
Can you even repair with more than one unit any more? Or build? Or help production?

You can help production, but only experimentals are worth doing it on really. Personally I love sup com 2 for multiplayer, but prefer the first 2 for single player, not saying its better or worse, its down to personal preferences.

I meant help with more than one.
When I try to repair with more than one nothing happens. I hear production too does not get benefit (or very small). In first SC all engineer production was added directly to factory.

Only 1 unit may repair any other unit, same goes for construction. This game may seem dumbed down but alot fo the changes were made to streamline the game and make matches go fater. Hardcore fans of Supcom 1 and FA are usually not to fond of Supcom 2, but both games are good in their own right.

Basically anything more than 3 engineers is pointless, and even then the 3rd isn't much use:

Thanks Bertie
there are a lot of things from supcom:FA that i miss, but there is something in Supcom 2 that makes up for it and i can't seem to find it.

For me Supreme Commander 2 dealt better with some problems the first part had e.g. it is more fast-paced. But you get the feeling that the maps are much smaller (which they are) and by that you loose the most important point in the game: it's not as epic as part one was. In SupCom2 I got the feeling to be a captain of a big army whereas in Sup Com I felt like I could rule the world with my T3 Bombers coming out of a submarine whilest a nuclear explosion took place far of.

Yeah was not too thrilled at the single play campaign. Even the cut scenes seem far behind the orignals. Just stupid things like why did the general not know who you were married too, do they not keep track of any records in the future etc.

Or in the aeon campaign, a commander gage shows up who you have never met before and is not even part your race, he, tells you to basically attack your own side, and you blindly do it without phoning or checking a single thing hes telling you? I mean really, that is just stupid.

Is there Coordinated Attack in SC2?
What's that big red circle that appears if I hold and drag right mouse button? (might have seen it with CTRL too)

Oh and since you mentioned cut scenes, why are they so choppy and freeze? (the 2D video ones I mean, the 3D are fine)

This game feels like the entire thing (including graphical detail!!!!) was stripped down and streamlined to facilitate faster-paced multiplayer with a lower threshold for skill required so as to draw a larger user base.

Well, I finally buckled and bought this game, years after beating SC1 and FA, though I bought them as well to appease Lord GabeN. I'm glad I did, too, because now not only do I have a juxtaposition, I have something to play when I'm done with SC2. That will be very soon. Most of the hours I have logged were when the game was pasued because I got bored.

Is it a bad game? No. In truth it's better than most RTS games. But after SC1 it's kind of like getting a degree from MIT and then being asked to do manual labor. Oh, wait, no it isn't, because that happened in Half-life and the game only got better. Likewise, it also needs a third installment, but don't tell Gabe I said that.

That's just my cranky old opinion, though, complete with complaining about how they don't make 'em like they used to and kids these days. I think I'll spend some time waiting for Grass Simulator 2: Get Off My Lawn edition while I mass experimentals against the pitiful AI for the last push.

Supreme Commander 2 is also far less stable and crashes more often than Supreme Commander: FA despite being "streamlined". It took so much out of the game, it barely passes as a demo for the original. It seems clearly targeted towards console players who never saw the scale of the battles of the original.

I have yet to get a crash with supcom 2 after 400 hours. Think you just need to upgrade your system bud.

Also supcom 2 has major battles, ive had bigger battles with the ai in supcom 2 then forged alliance AI.
