Chris Taylor is working on a new 2d top down rts called Intergalatic Space Empire (not sure that will be the final name)
https://main.kanoogi.com/updates.html#u05
My only concerns is it does not sound like its going to be anything like sup com or TA.
Yep, heard of it...but that wont be out for another 2 years...as he is focused not only on that product...
He was the one behind sup com 1....his company was basically forced to make sup com 2 the way it ended up....consolized, and oversimplified....
I had a good chat with chris about this on facebook and the company sold all the rights and source code to square enix during the economic down turn in the us in 2008. Without the backing of square enix they likely would never have been sup com 2. Forged alliance was a 18 million dollar game... Because square enix owns quite a variety of games and never focuses on rts games I think supreme commander will not see the light of day. If you are looking for something to play as a stand in for supreme commander you should check out Chris taylors Planetary Anniliation and his current game he is working on galactic space empire. Its a browser based game in development as a personal project of his so it could take a few years. If you are looking for a well developed and maintained community for supreme commander i suggest you check out faf.
Did you mean Total Annhilation?
It's a shame we might not see a supcom 3. Honestly I did like a lot of the changes in the second game. It's a solid fun title in its own right.
After that you've got Planetary Anihillation which, rather like SupCom, appears stuck in the waters. They did try to find a second game, but it failed and PA has never revived itself enough I think to generate a second game, but it does get decent support still and they are still updating the game. So its not abandoned, but its clearly in the passion-project life cycle of steady slow updates. Still hoping they one day add "continue after commander death" mode!
Then there's Ashes of Singularity which last I heard IS working on a sequel. It's the most recent and at least seems like its on path to make a sequel and brings back mass battles with its own unique twist and is a fun game in its own right.
He doesnt, that guy misspoke.

thank you for sharing, I think I stumbled upon this title before. Through the passage of time my interest in gaming decreased...in general...
Keep your eyes on that :)
WOW! that looks promising...I hope they wont dumb it down for the brain numb starcraft crowds, and they include a decent amount of shield upgrades, and upgrade depth...
It looks like a real candidate for a successor to sup com series...hopefully the IP owners will not try to shut it down like greedy EA does...
I agree, this looks like the one to aim for. Made by SC/FA/FAF fans.
I have quickly looked over some videos, and it looks like they are making pretty much sup com with some improvements, and unique and actually original ideas...which is very refreshing...+ some logical and cool updates....although the whole dyson sphere feels more like an "inner earth" design...but all is well...
