Argument: why proto brain complexes are the best

So about 2 days ago, I was playing with meat baton (aka one of the worst players in sc2) anyways, he talked about proto brains and how much they quote on quote “suck.” I was highly triggered when he was taking sh*t about my main man, so I made a topic about why proto brains are very useful when playing cybran.


1.they give you far more research points.
Because cybran does not have the 20+ research point ability, proto brains make the ideal structure when upgrading your units and acu

2.because a single proto brain complex can produce more research points, when playing on a map such as geothermal borehole, where you don’t have a lot of space to build your structures, again makes the ideal structure, because instead of building multiple research stations, you could just build about 2 proto brains and your all set.

3. Proto brains are not only research boosters, they are also air units. when you detach the proto brain,it serves as an air unit that can target land units, also, don’t worry about it when it gets destroyed, in about 20 seconds, a new one will appear, free of charge.

4. Proto brains boost the veterancy of both nearby land AND air units. If that’s not enough, proto brains can also support your air/land army, (even experimentals) giving you a huge advantage.


So no meat baton, the proto brain is not useless, a single structure that’s good at 4 things? No sir, and I thought you were a pro, so when playing cybran, proto brains are one of the best structures to use.

Meat Batton (we haven't added each other, but yoru name seems familiar?) Hasn't brougth any point yet, whilst Raine~ was simply listing fact about the Proto-Brain, whithotu considering actual situations

For example, yes, it is a technically indestructible Air Unit, but doesn't turns out to be to effective about it it, especially as using it means giving up half of the boosted researching.

One can hardly deny it's insane RS income, but if it is really worth it's own research and resource costs don't make it a ligthweigth decision, and you would never want to use it in a serious competetive match unless the very late game on huge maps (for example good old Open Palms), so it is hard to tell about what situation you two were agruing about.

Rule of thumb: Unless you're playing a game where you are turtling against Cheating (or above) AIs, going straigth for Proto-Brain is almost always a stupid thing to do, as it leaves you unable to build up a serious defense. And risk all this for a research station that is merely double as effective as upgraded UEF/Aeon ones? (When the Brain is docked, i need to stress.)
