Sound starts crackling after about 1 hour of gameplay
So what is causing this? Some kind of memory bug? I can play the game for 1 - 2 hours and then the sounds start to sound really bad. Looking at CPU and memory, the game is not using much, but restarting the PC fixes the problem.

This game won't stop suprising me with new bizarre ailments as it ages...

I've never seen this one in particular before; I don't even know where to point my finger at. (I mean, in the end it's always drivers, but let's not jump ahead of ourselves. :steammocking:).

So restarting your PC works - does this mean merely restarting the game (with a minute pause inbetween) does not? Does the sound crackle only in the game, or affects all output in parallel (e.g. when you're listening to music in the background)? Are you using your PC's build-in speakers or a headset?

I feel like the crackling is now only in the demo videos, where it did not appear originally. I changed resolution and lowered all details to low, and now it felt like it did not happen again while playing. It might have something to do with the resolutions or details. I think I set the audio fidelity also to lowest setting now.

I was reading that people had mouse problems, but my only problem is with sounds.

What "demo videos"? The only videos in the game I can remember are a couple of campaign cutscenes (and even there more happen in-engine).

There was demo video before the first cybran mission starts. It shows the brain thing talking in his chamber to that russian main character. The sound was not working on that, but after that the game engine cinematics started the sound worked again ok.

That, uh... is wierd.

I would guess you're somehow having issues playing .usm files, although I don't really know what might be causing this.
The good news is, at this point in the campaign, you only have two more cutscenes to go, so i hope the crackle isn't too bad. (You can always watch them on YouTube, for example.)

Also lol, "Russian Main character".

Damn, it is happening again.

I had a good run and played many Cybran missions without issues and then it happened again.

I also noticed that when the sound crackling came in, that in the main menu when I move the mouse, the cursor disappears and flickers.

This is a L2P issue.

What is L2P?

Update your graphics card drivers to fix the mouse lag issue. It was fixed in a recent Nvidia update.

I activated the "lock mouse to window" option and I didn't get the bug again. When I start the game, I don't have mouse lag.

I thought that was an older Nvidia driver bug, the latest drivers should get around that. Perhaps you need a full uninstall and reinstall of your drivers.
