References within the game
... kind of pointless thread. :P
Perhaps none of the characters reference any character from anime/manga/games and it's just coincidence, but the achievements on the other hand does so that's mostly what I'm asking for. :P

I know Vanilla and Chocolate along with the achievements for these two reference Vanilla and Chocola from Nekopara.

I also believe Syaro and her achievement references Syaro from the anime/manga "Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?".

What about the others? o;

The others I have no clue so I'm just curious if any of the other characters reference some character from another game or anime/manga/Light novels. :vanilla2:
While some it feels like I kind of recognize when looking at the achievement names but can't pinpoint where from. :P

I actually have a minor section on this in the guide I made for Rabi-Ribi, guess any new notes from here would be useful.

Syaro might share the same name, but the achievement "Is The Order This Rabbit?!" is for Keke Bunny...
I think it's pretty safe to say Lilith is a reference to this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith
And Aruraune is an Alraune, a monstrous plant wich resembles a woman... this is where it originated from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alraune
Ashuri is Marisa
Irisu's outfit resembles Syaro from Gochuumon

It's not like every girl dressed as a witch is a reference to Marisa...

To be honest, I didn't even see there was an achievement called that. xD
Reason I figured Syaro from this game, was a reference to Syaro from Gochuumon is the achievements name "A maid that is not a maid" Syaro works as a waitress wearing what looks like a maid outfit, with droopy bunny ears in the anime so my mind went straight to her when I saw the achievement. :P
(I haven't actually met Syaro in game yet)

Read through it and a lot of the possible references I didn't know. xD
Only Chocola and Vanilla. :P
Syaro, what I thought was apparently wrong, that's what I get for making threads before even meeting all characters. :P
Irisu I had met but at that point of the game I wasn't really thinking of references at all, so didn't make a connection now either. xD
Only after meeting Vanilla for the first time did I notice lol.
Cocoa I kind of had a feeling could be Cocoa from Gochuumon but as I couldn't say exactly why I thought so except for their appearances being similar I decided not to include her. xD

if she were just a witch, I'd agree, but the fact that she shoots lasers and throws down buttloads of stars kind of makes it pretty likely. The weapon you get from beating her the first time (hold shoot for constant yellow laser) is pretty similar to the weapon that playable Marisa uses as well.

Didn't see enough stars or giant lazors to make the connection, lol

Ashuri trying to broomstick-tackle you while orbited by star bullets was what convinced me she's at least partially Marisa inspired.

Then again Irisu literally uses And Then Will There Be None, so who even knows.

Not a character or anime reference, but the defense system in the Red system interior references the gravitron minigame in the game VVVVV.

To be honest, Ashuri reminded me of Marisa aswell, for reasons already stated. xP

By the way, I just noticed Seana's name is spelled as "Shiina" in her loading screen... probably a translation thing since it has the same pronunciation... or maybe someone recognizes that name from somehere?
AFAIK Seana's name isn't a reference, but it was localized as SEAna because she lives under the SEA :azuki2: Or the ocean. Whatever. It's a pun!

I tried digging (or swimming, ba dum tss... No? Ok...) deeper as I know "Shi" (in Shiina) can mean to stab/prick/pierce, and there's fish who are known to be very dangerous due to their stabby nature, divers getting stabbed sometimes, the fish being needlefish.
I figured there could be a connection there, as in, her original name might just simply be a pun.
The name is still a pun now, just that it's a pun that makes more sense to English speaking players. :P

But I haven't met her yet so don't know her dialogue nor attacks, if she's a boss. :Shigure2:
So can't say for sure that this is the case.

Looks like everyone answered it before I got home, but it's mostly because of the colored star danmaku and the broom attack that reminds me of one of her moves in IaMP
I thought she looked a bit like, so I asked a friend who does not know about this game to confirm if she does, and it seems he also thinks Cicini looks a bit like Shimakaze, and also another character he sent that I couldn't identify lol
