Anyway. I still vote for Erina, she is the superior rabbit. She is certainly NOT my absolute favorite out of the Rabi-Ribi cast, there are plenty I like better than her actually, but she is definitely better than Reisen.
I mean, its Protagonist with whom I spent nearly 400 hours hammering people with vs some rather lame and unremarkable (especially for the stage number she is in) Stage 5 boss...
Also, the 4th outfit she has is 10/10. I mean just look at her:

↑ Waaaay better than Reisen for sure.
Yeah... though this is a more even fight, my vote goes for Erina/Rabi-Ribi here.
Have you read the comic?(Accessed through Rabbit Box in Main Menu of the game. Must be online to read it) Erina is the very definition of 'conflict' in that.
Except as soon as dialogues are done, gameplay-wise she proceeds to hammer everyone in her way anyway...
It is a bit odd but... When I think about it I guess it can be interpeted as "innocent, but knows when its the right time for a fight/isnt afraid of beating the crap of someone if she has to"
...and tbh this makes me like her even more.
Y'all wildin
I have read some of the comic, but the Erina in the comic is much different from Erina in the game. Erina in game just wants friends but always ends up either being out right attacked, or the bunny sky phenomenon causes a fight to break out. If you think about the prologue of Rabi-Ribi, it's actually quite sad that Erina is being attacked left and right, but of course this isn't a sad game. It's a adorable, lighthearted masterpiece that’s helping me not fall deeper into a depression. I’m getting a little off topic, but you understand.
Well, when you put it that way...
Waking up on an island, starting to explore and everyone you encounter ends up attacking you (whenever intentionally or just a misunderstanding) when you just want to know what the heck is going on IS kinda rude/sad lol.
But hey, thats okay, eventually she beats them and becomes friend of them all, a town full of friends in fact, as a plus also finds all sort of powerful items to the extent she is easily the strongest one by the end (BNA bosses dont really count).
Like seriously, if you try to think from the perspective of the average boss, Erina and Ribbon have a really powerful/scary arsenal of attacks by the end of the story. So if anything threats them again Erina can probably solve it no problem.
I say her journey more than paid off, despite the arguably harsh beginnings lol.
The interesting part about the comic is that it is official IIRC, so there is that to suggest that Erina's side. I think its too over the top but that was probably the intention.
I think Erina is mostly like her in-game self, but I think there may be a bit of Comic!Erina as well, deep down. Would certainly explain why she is so adamant about hammering everyone and everything.
One way to look at Erina 1.0, Main Character Erina, and Noah is this-
A lot of games like this has Good and Bad Endings them and because of what happened to Erina 1.0 cause both the Good/Bad Ending to happen at the same time.
Main Character Erina and Rabi Island is the result of the Good Ending.
Noah and the destruction of Rabi Islan is the result of the Bad Ending.
In a round about way Noah was trying to change her 'Bad Ending into a 'Good Ending'
I'm well aware that this is old post, but this is just so wrong on many levels that I can't ignore this.
How would exactly Erina beat Reisen? Erina literally isn't even that powerful without Ribbon.
Have you even researched Reisen's powers? If you take in consideration both of their powers and experience then Reisen ultimately wins. Also it's funny that you base character power by their stage placement. Stage means how close to solving incident you are, not how powerful boss will be. Because by your logic, Yuyuko in Ten Desires would be one of weaker characters in Touhou because she is Stage 1 Boss there.
Wow, it literally does sound like you're fanboy of Erina and can't even compare powers logically because "muh waifu haz beter outfits", but hey if you want "even" fight, then let's give Ribbon to Erina and give Eirin to Reisen as their partners. If you will say that Erina/Ribbon wins then I'm not even sure what to say here.
It wasn’t supposed to be a 100% deep serious post though...
In fact the thread title just asks who is cuter, not more powerufl.
The stage thing was using gameplay logic, as the very post states. It’s not su much that she is a Stage 5 boss by itself, but rather the fact that, again, GAMEPLAY WISE, she is quite underwhelming as a Stage 5 boss- probably one of the weakest on the series (Using Lunatic difficulty as the standard). In fact she is something of a joke on these communities.
But if you go lore wise then yes, Reisen would almost certainly win. So would basically anyone from the Touhou universe (There was in fact a thread were we talked more about this, and I said basically anyone from Touhou could easily beat anyone from Rabi-Ribi), but since that is a quite boring and predictable answer that would kill any and all discussion, I decided to use gameplay experiences instead.
And finally, I just prefer Erina. Much more memorable to me than a (AGAIN, in case you don’t get this again) gameplay-wise frankly meh Stage 5 boss. I also think she is quite meh on LoLK as playable (Despite being OP for casual survival due to her bombs)
I am not a Touhou lore expert, and frankly I don’t care enough- I used to be into Touhou a lot for the Lunatic difficulty and challenge runs such as No Bombs and the like; I was there for the gameplay mainly. That applies to most games I play, actually.
I do know almost everyone in the touhou verse is OP.
Again, not an Erina Fanboy. She isn’t even one of my favorite Rabi-Ribi characters. But I certainly like her more than Reisen - might have something to do with me spending 750+ hours on her game vs a Stage 5 boss that is easy (all things considered), has a somewhat lame gimmick and the theme is okay but not the best from Touhou.
That is all there is to it, not sure why you are so agressive for no reason.
Oh my apologies for not detecting when somebody is not serious on internet. I guess everybody does have that ability but just not me.
That's the whole point, while OP asked who is better in terms of personality/appearance, you literally started your argument that he could make it one-on-one fight. Besides joking, which I mentioned above isn't most obvious thing in internet, why would you do that? That wasn't answer that OP was asking for.
Difficulty is subjective, after all for most part Touhou is pattern-based so everything can be trivalized if you can just remember pattern. I wouldn't be so sure to say that everybody from Touhou universe can beat everybody from Rabi-Ribi. There's good amount of small fry Youkai that would pretty much lose to some of characters. Also it isn't boring and predictable answer? As long as you can put up good argument why is that, then it isn't boring. Gameplay experience doesn't tell anything in power argument. Since it's literally "gameplay", there wouldn't be a game if you couldn't progress because some powerful enemy killed your character. So I would say to don't do such stupid thing as to bring up gameplay in lore discussion.
Of course she is more memorable if you have whole game based on her. Wouldn't you think that if Reisen had her own game where she was the only main character then it would make her more memorable too?
You don't have to, but frankly you shouldn't start discussion about character powers if you don't. I'm well-versed in Touhou lore since it is pretty deep (At least older games, since it got only downhill from there.) so it was pretty dumb statement of you to say that Erina would beat Reisen.
Not almost everyone. Fair amount sure. That being said if we go without spell card rules, since with spell card rules you can limit most character abilites which pretty much Reimu uses as her plot armor.
The whole post looked like one, especially saying that Erina is more powerful than Reisen without even giving statement why. I can't see why you're assuming that I'm agressive.
That was just normal post that debunked your "arguments". I called you fanboy, because of the above points that I made. It's all about perspective. You can't assume that everybody will be like "Oh, he's just joking!" In which I can't confirm if you indeed did post it as a joke, or you're just doing damage control now.
I have made my point, since there's not much that I can say more, I'm just going go back on topic and say that I personally think that Reisen is more cute and her personality seems to click more with me than Erina's.
...Actually, now that I remember, there IS a reason for that!
Taken out of context, this post- the part you have the biggest issue with, the first 2 sentences- does seem a bit out of place. But this was because I was referencing an older thread made by OP which DID indeed talk about character power levels:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/400910/discussions/0/3342162929527016694/
This topic came first, and it was indeed abourt an hypothetical 1 vs 1 fight.
My first post on this thread was referencing that- "you *could* have made this into an one-on-one fight and I likely would have ended up voting for Erina actually"
So it’s not really out of nowhere. It does look like that out of context though, but that is just a sideffect of this thread suddenly getting revived xd. Mystery solved!
(Also you can have fun with that thread as well, I was far from the only one that used gameplay stuff to determine the fight).
This basically answers everything on the 2nd quote so I will skip to the 3rd.
Yes, if Reisen had her own game I think it would be interesting to get to know more about her!
But sadly yet doesn’t. Erina does. Is that unfair? I guess... but that’s the comparison the thread is about, so...that’s just life.
Again, have fun in that other thread if you want because a lot of people used gameplay related feats/skills/whatnot for arguments, alongside canonical plot stuff. I personally think in-game stuff should also be considered, at least to some extent- it gives you a rough idea of what the characters are capable of after all!
I will take your word for it. I just assume almost anyone from Touhou could utterly nuke anyone, not just Rabi-Ribi cast but basically nearly any fictional cast. Except maybe clearly low tier people like Cirno and whatnot. They are just that broken.
...
At the end of the day though, the real answer here for me is, yes. Erina is cuter than Reisen IMO. That’s about it, the most basic answer.
I do like how you assume that I'm having fun here. I must say that's kind of interesting bait you did there. But i'm smart enough to not jump into "lion's den".
So I'll pass on your offer.
Once again I'll pass. You're correct in some ways that gameplay can also be used to deduce power level. But for most part gameplay isn't supposed to be considered 100% canon to plot.
Example party members dying in plot, while you can literally revive them with skills/items anytime in battle.
And Reisen is cuter for me. That being said the better answer would be that, beauty is pretty much subjective thing. So I would say that both are ideally pretty much cute.
