Why does every boss have ten billion HP?
Am I doing something wrong? I want to like this game. I should like this game - it's cute, I like metroidvanias, I like bullet hells. But I'm losing interest fast, because every single boss fight is a ten-minute grindfest that I inevitably have to try multiple times before I actually finish.

Bosses scale with the number of badges equipped and items aquired. I quit my normal loop 2 for this reason as well. Noah had over 800k hp so each time I lost was bout 20-25 minutes lost.

Erina has a lot of attacking options. You need to get up in their face and whack em with your hammer whenever you feel is safe, even doing a 3 hit combo during their attacks. Sitting back and spamming only magic is really awful (I see a lot of new players do this). Even if you aren't doing that, doing a simple hammer combo 5 and updrill between enemy attacks as your only method isn't very effective either.

Bosses are my favorite part of the game honestly. That's one of the 2 good ways I saw to make amazing bosses - other way is in Hollow Knight. (Technically there are tons of ways to make great bosses but HK's and Rabi-Ribi's are my favorite)
And come on, 10 minutes? I didn't fight the true final boss (Although I was in the true final area), but no boss was THAT long, except one that's completely optional and just gives a new outfit and nothing more. 2-3 minutes at most. If the boss has multiple phases with checkpoints inbetween them, then it's 2-3 minutes per phase.
I get that not everyone would like this though.

I'm playing Normal Alternative, bosses shouldn't be scaling with anything but story progress, and they sure shouldn't be penalizing me twice for getting and then using pack points.

I've been going for hammer attacks when I feel safe doing so, but losing 10% of my health to maybe take off an extra 3% of the boss's health bar is not a winning trade, so I can't go in when I'm not sure I can get back out.

Sure doesn't feel that way when every attack I make is a light tickle, every attack the boss makes can hit me for 10% of my health multiple times, and the amulet offers a whopping half a second of invincibility against attacks that last much longer than that (and often prevent me from trying to deal any serious amount of damage).

Alternative is probably why. Enemies scale with story progress and town recruits, making them more durable and dangerous unless you go find the item pickups.

10% HP per hit? Is this easy modo? Be happy you don't ptchuun in one hit. But seriously, the game can have a fairly high skill cap, there's plenty of ways to maximize damage, after all, there's people that can do boss rushes on bex in like 20 min.

Go item hunting. Find more attack upgrades.

Yeah, with Alternative you really need to hunt up those items to stay ahead of the curve.

are you using ribbon to the most of it? it's possible to hit a boss with a charged magic at the start of a combo, then charge and release another magic by the end of it.

Well no wonder things are hard, Alternative scales up MUCH faster then Standard, but its purely based on story ticks, if the curve is too harsh, avoid doing the Stele events, and go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hunting for more power
As for taking damage, more attacks then you'd think are safe to slip in a three or four hit attack(5 can be deadly though), if you're later on, Bunny Strike does absolutely massive damage when its off its cooldown, so does the Super Carrot, as for the Amulet, you get plenty of time to avoid damage if you use it when you're about to be hit, and then haul ass out of the immediate danger

Other then that, learn to use the Focus function when on the ground if you need to move more carefully(its Holding Melee and moving, hitbox shows and you move slower)

And if all in all its too much, Skullo is sitting just west of Rabi Rabi town and can lower the difficulty for you

You should find as many attack ups as you possibly can. If you have any attack boosting badges, equip those as well (except for ATK Grow). Each boss should generally take less than 3 minutes to complete on a successful run, unless you're fighting an end game boss. If you're using green as your primary magic type, that could be part of your problem. I highly recommend switching to blue, as weird as it might feel.

Green is basically the strongest charged shot type to use if you treat it like a shotgun. Especially double-charged ones. The tricky part at first is getting used to the positioning to land them consistently (enemies need to be directly in front of Ribbon for them to land).

This is often a pretty ideal scenario to finish off with point-blank green charges, provided your positioning from the combo isn't making it extra difficult by being too off.

It's also worth mentioning that 2+ charge shots of any type in any one stun usually causes the extra(s) to miss, but very rarely they might still land. Green charge shots (and explosions from red) are the only ones that don't follow this rule, and will always be able to hit.
