Its all about what kinde a strategy game you want to play
I don't own MoW2 (yet?) but I liked MoW Assault Squad 2, though not quite as I like Gates of Hell plus all DLCs, to be fair.
Artillery is 100% accurate and has an overuse punishment feature of being spotted map-wide for other artillery.
There is no field logistic units, you withdraw units from the map to have them rearmed, remanned, repaired, and refueled.
Medics are ninjas that save downed infantry. Also better have medics in your infantry deck.
Some Infantry squads are AI commanded and can't have soldiers individually ordered.
The deck system is more like Wargame or Steel Division, so losses do count.
There is a stealth mechanic and unit icons will notify if that unit is in view of the enemy or it has lost it's camouflage effectiveness.
The thing is you can totally modify combat balance of Gates of Hell to play just like Men at War 2.
But not possible for GOH is to change to a newer engine (MOW2 have it) and so the multiplayer will stay at the horrible state...same with the interface.
I can only hope MOW2 become a higher playerbase and modder they make MOW2 more realistic.
But both games are very good : GOH for singleplayer and MOW2 for multiplayert. But it is not fair to say MOW2 is not a good game because too much arcade. And for me the arcade-gameplay is not so bad in MOW2 vanilla....sure i prefer more realistic gameplay too.
But many player seem to forget that MOW2 have the newer engine and make the game more realistic is not such a big change like a game it use an older engine with a horrible multiplayer technique and a not scaleable interface (cant join a game with hurting eyes).
But MOW2 need more player and when the playerbase is so low i think not man mod will be released and the devs from MOW2 will stop to support the game.
with such a low playerbase the devs cant earn money and to support a near dead game make no sense. But i hope MOW2 will be supported in future too.
For me a better engine and a working multiplayer is more important as a better campaign and more realistic grafic.
, probably the games i have loved the most in my life
The thing I like the most is having fun with the Editor , but I have less choice with GoH
