Loading a saved game
So I am having a problem loading a previous game version so I can play a saved game (update?). When I try to load the saved game, the new game version is in red and the load button is inactive. My attempt to load the previous version was going in the game properties /betas /rollback options. It shows a list of previous versions. So I tried loading all the versions that were available in the rollback options and none of them worked for the saved game. Is there a way to load a previous version? Am I missing something?

If its a regular save, not a Conquest, just open up your save file inside you'll find a sub file called "Status" open it up and edit the listed game version to the current game version save it and give it a try it just might work.

I tried to find the game saves locally but couldn't find them. I found them on steam cloud but the only option is to download them. No status option. Unless there are saves somewhere else.
I looked at the link and found a weird app playing the instructions. You cant pause it or zoom in so you can actually see it. After looking at it with a magnifying glass, I was overwhelmed with the length it takes to change things and all the technical stuff. Not a computer guru. Wondering if this happens when mods update.
I am dumbfounded that you have to go through all that to load a saved game after an update. How in the world has this not been fixed. This is game has a long learning curve to begin with and now this. I've never heard of a modern game requiring this. At least have an option not to update the game before it automatically does.
Thanks for the replies. Any other info would be appreciated.

Here is what my Path looks like,

C:\Users\yourname\Downloads\Documents\My Games\gates of hell\profiles\51972243\save

If you can use this, your halfway there.
I finally found the saved games on my computer. When I try to open the save file it asks me to choose a program. Don't know what program to choose. Otherwise cant find the status. So stuck here.
Does any one know how to change the link above to open with something else that you can control it?
Also wondering if I can keep a game from automatically updating in steam so I can finish the mission and then update?

I use WinRAR. I've been able to change a Saved Game V1.037 to V1.049. What Version are you trying to change?

Are you Offline or Online when you Play?

WinRaR (40 day free trial use it to open the saved game files)
Found at www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Notepad++ (Freeware file Editor use it to edit your saved game after WinRaR opens it)
Found at https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/

The answer to your last question is No, Steam used to let you turn it off but not anymore.

Well, first thing you have to do is Play in Offline Mode. Then don't start the Game with Steam. Go into the Game Folder and click on the "gates_of_hell.exe" App.
Here is My Path,
D:\games\steamapps\common\Call to Arms - Gates of Hell\binaries\x64

That's how I escape Updates.
