No hand grenades on F1

I played a round of Eastern Front.
None of my soldiers could use the hand grenades because where the F1 softkey is, it wasn't there, just an empty box. Even though the soldiers were carrying hand grenades.
Was that a software error or intentional?

You mean the icon is missing from the quick bar at the bottom centre of the screen or that actually pressing the F1 key didn't work ?

If it's just the icon missing add it back to the quick bar by dragging (it whilst holding down the right mouse button) from the bottom right tile menu area.

The game likes to drop icons for some reason, I have this happen with smoke grenades mostly

They didn't just get "dropped", you must have accidentally dragged the icon out of the bar.

I'm not sure about that.

I've had icons just go missing but that might be because I've dragged something in a "micro management moment".
