GoHO also offers a dynamic PvE campaigns in which you built your own army and fight an ever- changing war across the collection of maps like your own war - in addition to the usual single player and skirmishes or PVP.
The game uses the same (but upgraded) engine so everything with be similar if not almost identical. There are some new features but overall it's the same with better graphics.
You'll see a lot of the same tanks and vehicles in both titles.
The major difference is in the inclusion of the dynamic campaign (Conquest), improved visuals (eye candy) and a far more historical accuracy on the single player grand campaign missions.
It's been a long time since I played any of the MoW series so there's probably some changes I've forgotten to mention but I'm sure others will mention any I've missed.
The main reason to buy GoH is if you've already milked MoWAS2 dry (played the whole game, played most good mods) and want more. GoH offers a much better singleplayer campaign plus the (in my opinion way overrated) Dynamic Conquest mode.
But GoH has almost no singleplayer mods right now. There's like 3-4 workshop GOOD missions that ACTUALLY function and aren't broken.
The overwhelming majority of workshop content for this game are lazy copy-paste mods for Dynamic Conquest (everybody copies somebody else's mod, makes 1 change to it and reuploads it with a new name), boring editor maps, and very few actually decent singleplayer missions.
90% of GoH mod missions are either broken and not updated or they're just terrible. 5% are MoWAS2 mods ported into GoH and the last 5% are original missions that still work and are fun to play.
Also keep in mind that 99% of workshop missions for GoH will require you to download about 15GB+ of other mods in order to function, because apparently modders just can't even comprehend the possibility of just making a regular missions for vanilla GoH, no no no, everything needs to have valour and some crappy asset packs in it.
So be prepared to download ~20GB every time you want to try out 1 mission that may not even be any good.
PPSH is a monster in this game. you can lay down the hammer at medium range in prone and delete units quickly. Try this with the mg42 / mp40 / or really any axis smg / mg and you'll require more engagement time.
Graphically the game is amazing, but gameplay mechanics wise - it's lacking compared to mow2as. In mow2as, you could actually hide tank destroyers depending on their size - in bushes. You can't in this game, you can barely hide the goliath in a tank trench.
I enjoyed mow2as when I wasn't automatically kicked out of every lobby for being low rank - or forced to play on a team of low ranks vs 3000 hour players. Also the unit limit for how many units you can place on the map is atrocious.
If the developers could incorporate a realism mode in multiplayer matches that simulates robz mod, I'd be very happy. If you enjoy playing as the soviet union, you'll love this game. I combed through the patch log for the open beta, and am disappointed to find yet again - more nerfs for axis infantry weapons and artillery. The stg44 nerfs were uncalled for, 30cm rocket firing time is crap, and we can't untow / tow in direct control anymore.
Edit. OH sry you talk about MOW assault squad 2. So yes is worth to buy. But i prefer Gates of hell.
game feels like its missing a soul
As for here, with the upcoming update, everything is so much better from units, models, graphics, environment, gameplay and overall feel. I wouldn't rly touch AS2 anymore, maybe play ROBZ for nostalgia on it for old times sake but as it stands, Gates of Hell is king.
Let's face it, the people behind GOH aren't really developers, they're just a bunch of MOWAS2 modders. The prime example of their limitations in the inability over the years to introduce UI scaling to facilitate 4k, Many, many other games have the capability but not GOH .... because the "devs" don't know how to do it.
As resources limited developers make choices that benefit larger portion of playerbase.
So, I ask you, What's better?
All you can eat, un-peeled, Popcorn shrimp or Surf and Turf?
