Exactly how do you refuel?

Im on the russian "Closing the Pocket" mission and I found a german tank that I could repair, but it had very low fuel and is now out. Cannot move anymore.
Moving jerry cans into its inventory does nothing and I cannot seem to call in fuel trucks.
How should I get this thing moving again?

The problem is that your jerrycan is empty (it happened to me 100 times before i realized that...) You have to take the jerrycan, get to a tank or vehicle that still has some fuel. Activate (right click in the man's inventory) the jerrycan and (IIRC) right-click on the vehicle. You jerrycan is now full with 20 ltrs. You have to go back to your out-of-fuel vehicle and follow the same process.
As far as I remember, there is a traktor in the bottom left corner of the map that has some fuel. The best way is to move a guy in this vehicle and bring him close to the empty tank to speed up the process.
