Using medics & healing?
When an INF squad or gun gets hit and there's a lull in the fighting with a bunch of guys bleeding out, I always really struggle using my medics. They don't seem to listen to me unless I manually select each incapacitated soldier, and manually stack up heal orders with a shift-click for every single injured guy. Often the injured are in weird spots in the terrain (or AT guns etc) so it's hard to actually get the blinking heal icon to show up. Then usually only one medic actually starts healing the guys, even if there are 2-4 in the medic team. It's just an awkward laborious & attention-heavy task compared to like every single other task in the game.

I'm still learning the game, am I doing this the hard way? Missing some obvious trick?

Sadly there is not auto revive my friend, so you'll need to command each individual medic to start attending to the incapacitated. A squad of medics won't divide up the tasks you've given them, you'll need to split them up and give each one orders :/

*edit - I've had incapacitated soldiers fall underneath trenches and in all sorts of weird places too.

Also the sweet spot for getting the heal icon to appear over an injured soldier is ridiculously small. You have an intense battle raging and the player ends up wasting time trying to line up the mouse with the injured soldier. Worse if there's 4 injured soldiers and one is partially under an AT Gun or clipped in with the edge of a trench.

There should be an option where if you drag left click an area your medic will attempt to heal all soldiers within that circular area. This still leaves the option of individually selecting soldiers to heal for those case where you don't want the medic to expose themselves by leaving cover.
Holding V to highlight bodies helps a lot with selecting
And yes, medics have to be ordered individually, probably an engine thing, but it's not that tedious

Press K to split the squad. There is no benefit to keep all medics together.

There is one very important benefit for a squad of medics (2-3 per squad per map sector) and that's so you can find one when you most need one in that area, trying to locate one in that area through your personnel roster is a lesson in futility. Once they arrive I disband for single use then after the battle I re-band them and keep them where I can see them at all times. LOL ;)

There is an automedic mod in the workshop.

Yeah, thank you. I eventually realized that. Not only is there no benefit - it's actively detrimental because if they're grouped the rest of the medics will stand around inactive.

I tried it briefly last night playing the Finland campaign, and it didn't seem to work. Can anyone verify if it's updated & functioning? This was a scenario-specific team of 4 medics, I wonder if the mod's scripting only covers generic (Conquest & MP) units.

The automedic mod works. After a fashion. But it will likely get your medic killed as he charges off into no man's land heedless of safety.

there is a mod for auto heal areas which works quite well. It is in the workshop.

I've used this mod "Auto Medic-AA-Artillery & Weather Switch" w/o fail, you can turn off the other features and just use the auto-medic, there is a set distance the medics won't enter during a fire fight (150 meters, I think), just don't have too many individual medics in the same area or they will all come a running. The only minor problem yet to be resolved is having the medics return to their original starting points, you have to micro manage them after the fact or they might get caught up inside a new round of attacks,Nothing, more or less, than we already do.

I use the auto medic mod.

I split them and turn it off on one of the medics. You really have to watch the auto guy as he will run to a downed man immediately and get cut down.
